New player with a question about potential village size

I'm just getting into this game and playing in the Valley. I've started a village on top of a steep hill, but I also want to use the area at the bottom of the hill for crop fields and the shoreline of the lake for fishing. It's quite a large area though, so I'm wondering if there any limits on the size of the village you can build, or if it's possible to use all that space?

(Also, as an aside, is there a way to track down specific vendors in a particular village without having to open up a dialogue with literally every NPC you meet in that village? I don't know why they just tell you where a vendor lives, instead of, y'know, mentioning the vendor's name. Seems like that would be more useful.)

Overall I'm enjoying the game so far, though! :)

Does "Small Game" not count as "Meat" in the same way that "Berries" don't count as "Fruit"?

That's the general impression I got, but if so, it breaks my brain a little.

Black Swallowtail caterpillar on our Golden Alexander (Zizia Aurea)

This is the first time that we've seen a black swallowtail caterpillar on our Golden Alexanders instead of on the usual non-native plants (parsley, dill, Queen Anne's lace, etc). About two or three weeks ago, I saw the female butterfly going back and forth in our tiny native garden, and I hoped she was laying eggs. I guess she did!

Is there any point in sheep farming at high elevation?

Can you still get a reasonable amount of clothing out of sheep even if they're dropping dead?

I know about the perk that lets your sheep live, but I chose another perk before I realized I was at high elevation. In my defense, almost the entire region was a large flat plateau that didn't appear particularly high at all. I didn't even realize it until I'd already built a pasture and a sheep farm and my sheep started dying. Very frustrating.

I think there needs to be a warning of some kind about elevation before you start building your town. It's way too easy to find yourself in that situation on some maps. Although to be honest, it seems like a silly mechanic. I could understand if sheep were dying of cold in the winter right after being shorn, but they just die at random, even in the middle of summer.

What else do I have to do exactly?

I've been playing through Restoring the Peace on normal on the High Peaks map. The Baron never got more than one region while I took over the other three. I built up my armies and hired a bunch of mercenaries before laying a claim on the Baron's region, then defeated him to win it for myself.

I got the achievement Defeat Hildebolt, but I didn't get Restore the Peace, which surprised me. I was expecting to get both achievements at the end of the battle.

So then I thought, okay, maybe I have to build a village in the region first, but I've done that and still no achievement. So I'm not sure what the game wants at this point. Do I have to build a manor and/or reach a certain population first?
