Hello, for context I’ve had this guy for about 2 months now, he’s been growing a lot but I recently noticed his tail is getting darker. Could it be tail rot?

I made a post a bit earlier yesterday asking to see if someone could sex this guy but a person replied telling me they weren’t able to be identified by their tails so i looked a bit more into it and apparently it can be told by the shape of their bodies. Can anyone tell me what this guy is? I have other reptiles but this is my first skink so i’d also appreciate any advice on these guys
