JPEG Only?

I see some people saying things like, “I only shoot in RAW.” Isn’t that defeating the purpose of this camera?

I love my X100vi and I only have an old MacBook Pro with no desire to upgrade and rent editing software. I’m just a hobbyist who enjoys making photos but hates hours of endless editing.

Anyway, I quickly grabbed this shot from my front porch and cropped it to square on my iPhone, which is something I don’t mind doing, but that’s about it. Slight tweaks that I can quickly make on a mobile device before sharing with family and friends is my current level of involvement after the shot.

I’m just curious if other hobbyists feel the same OR if you have better suggestions than buying a new computer and expensive software for editing that you actually enjoy doing.

Brand New and Looking for Potential Subjects Today

I just snagged a new X100vi from the camera shop on a cruise ship and went out looking for potential subjects in Juneau, Alaska. With five ships in port, the place was completely overrun and my travel companions required my attention as well.

Then while waiting to board the ship I spotted a flower arrangement and took this photo. Cropped and edited on my iPhone 12 Pro Max in Snapseed.

ISO 125, f5.6, 1/80s

I’m just an amateur hobbyist and still have a lot to learn about photography but I’m pretty impressed with this camera. I suppose I probably should have opened the aperture to f2 perhaps in hindsight but I simply left it where it was when experimenting with landscape shots.

“Special Sauce” Recipe

Looking for condiment type of sauce that you can’t buy. Something either you created yourself or was handed down. Looking for something different than ketchup, mustard, and mayo.

I have one that I’m still perfecting that I use in my chili. It’s not a condiment but maybe it could be.

My current recipe is dried ancho chilies, seeded, toasted, and then puréed into a paste with a little water in a powerful blender. Plus a few tablespoons of double concentrated tomato paste.

So what ideas or recipes would you like to share? What makes your sandwich special? Etc?

Thanks.
