Miserable Corpo World Insights:

You've just seen half your company laid off. A majority of the leadership who cosigned and executed this immediately takes time off afterwards because they're "exhausted" and firing so many people is "traumatic" (they're assholes). Such the reorganization falls on to the 2nd in commands.

Who still works here and who doesn't? Good luck you're probably not entirely sure about that for at least a week. What am I responsible for and who is my boss now? You're going to have to wait for a meeting to find out.

Your teams go about restructuring. That means every single timeline gets reevaluated. That means every single responsibility matrix gets updated. These require conversations and skill evaluations. Meanwhile your workload likely increases because you're coving someone else's stuff for the foreseeable future. Better hope they kept good documentation or you've got a lot of homework! Unfortunately, nothing you're laboring at gets completed because the new timelines and what's in scope for updates is still TBD.

HR divvies out promotions and pats on the back so the remaining survivors don't panic or leave. This takes time and needs to align with the new responsibility matrix and organization structure. This means, you guessed it, more meetings...

Seems like a mess? We'll you've got 2 weeks. Why? Because every lunatic project management approach whether Agile, Sprint, Waterfall or whatever somehow got preordained 2 weeks as the unit of measure before the universe was set in motion and that's what all the orgs agree upon. As they say, "God made creation in all of 1 week but if He had a Project Manage it would've been done in 2."

What am I Saying:

Two weeks of silence after a massive layoff isn't that weird. It wouldn't be surprising if they have a 2 week deadline one revisiting their coms strategy in light of the layoffs. There are a lot of people likely head down working on shit that will eventually see the light of day. Likewise, there are also likely a lot of people hurt, confused, and running around trying to figure out what is going on at Bungie. It takes time to get oriented, especially when your org is big. Some of those people gave you art and experiences you cared about, I understand hating the management, but considering maybe giving the actual people a bit of grace.

So tired of runs starting up with some variation of the below:

"My last run was so bad."

"I'm going to disappoint you."

"My runs today have sucked."

Shut up! We're in this run now. Not your last one. Leave those cursed vibes on the past. If you're still fixated about the last one, you shouldn't have joined up for this one.

Your teammates aren't going to believe in you unless you believe in yourself. This behavior isn't endearing and it's detrimental to your success.

You're a detriment to your team and to everyone around you. I don't give a shit if you're new or have 100+ Cryo hours. If you're playing a team oriented game and refuse to coordinate with your team, go fuck yourself.
