Lower part of grass is brown?

Hi everyone. I’m in the UK. My seeded lawn is 13 weeks old now. I’ve been cutting at number 6 with my lawn mower (goes up to 7). Tried a patch at number 4 today and the lower grass was brown. I’ve looked closer and as you can see from the pic the base of the lawn is all brown? Why is this please? Any suggestions? Thank you :)

Weeds growing in new lawn?

Hello,

I seeded my lawn 13 days ago and this is the current situation. The grass seems to be growing great, but there’s weed growing throughout it. Should I be doing anything? I’m worried I’m going to end up the weed everywhere! Thank you
