Sharpe's Triumph Used Quality

I bought on ebay Sharpe's Triumph.

It smelled strange. I wondered perhaps mold, but I do not know what a moldy book smell like.

Then after a few hours in room temperature I took the book out of the slipcase and I noticed the papers where bent/warped. Feeling the book I felt it would bend lightly back and forth when pressed.

Could this be a mold problem, or the book has been stored improperly?

I am considering returning it, but wanted to check if this perhaps was a know structural weakness of this book.

I have bought many FS books on ebay. All up until now have been in excellent quality. Those have smelled completely different (a good book smell) and none have been this warped.

Help is appreciated to decide if I should return it and get a refund.

Dune: Folio Society vs Ace Books

The cover art on the Dune books published by Ace Books are so much more visual stunning than the Dune books published by Folio Society.

I really want the books from Folio Society because they are bigger, and the paper and typography is usually much better. The Font Size and Font Type of Folio Books make them more enjoyable and comfortable to read.

The Ace Books are not that much smaller than the books from Folio Society.

Because the Dune books from Ace have much better graphics I am really torn between them, if I should get those or the ones from Folio Society instead.

After watching this Video on Youtube, I kinda lost interest in the Dune books from Ace Books

Aristotle Nicomachean Ethics

I'm considering between two English editions of Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics, and I'm wondering whether anyone here is familiar with them or has read either one.

The first is the Folio Society edition, Aristotle: Ethics. It uses J. A. K. Thomson's translation, revised by Hugh Tredennick, with an introduction by Jonathan Barnes. As a physical book, it looks very attractive, as Folio Society editions usually do.

The second is Terence Irwin's translation Nicomachean Ethics**, 3rd Edition** from Hackett. This one seems to be more academically oriented, with extensive notes, an introduction, and a glossary of important Greek philosophical terms.

As far as I understand, both contain the complete Nicomachean Ethics, and the main differences are the translation and the supporting material. Irwin seems perhaps to be the better edition for really understanding and studying Aristotle, while the Folio edition looks like a better combination of a good reading copy and a collectible book.

Is anyone familiar with these editions?
Is Irwin's translation and commentary noticeably better than Thomson/Tredennick's, or is the Folio edition also a good choice if the main goal is simply to read Aristotle?
