Ascension closing soon?

I read about the lawsuit and september 8th hearing, but how long can it possibly take before anything happens?

Vanilla+ servers review?

Hello,

I played a lot of Turtle-wow and was real sad when it got shutdown, we had a ton of fun there. That said, I would gladly pay to Blizzard for the experience, but I enjoy passionate community and cozy levelling style more than corporate overstimulation. All the new stuff coming out about retail wow be really putting me off, I need that old graphics and vibe. I also am not willing to play anything less than classic+, obviously.

What are your honest reviews of servers that be putting out work into that classic+ experience?

My first base beneath Elder's platform 2: NEW PHOTOS

My original post didn't provide a good look at the base I am building. Here are new photos from better angles, taken during daytime.

The concept of the base is a Forest King's castle: a war base with twigs, weapons displays and harbor that will be a staging ground for expeditions into swamps and plains further south.

My first base beneath Elder's altar (Castle of the Forest King)

This altar is right by the sea, so I have dug beneath it straight from the bank where I have landed. The base features hall beneath the platform and stone floor courtyard that ends in open landing platform for my ships (in front of the character). The gates lead to the surrounding forest, and beyond the platform is a hill that rises to the north. It used to be full of trees, but my fights with elder essentially deforested the area north/northwest of the platform.

It's still WIP and I haven't played in a while, but the concept is a Forest King's castle in the woods. It's supposed to be a war base with twigs, banners and weapon displays, a staging ground for my exploits further south (It's on a big island south from my main base, still near the center but close to swamps and plains on nearby islands).

I am not really into underground bases, but I like how I connected the area beneath the platform to the sea and created basically a coastal castle sunk into the ground. I will post more photos in the future, this is the best I have now.

Bases in dangerous biomes?

I am playing a solo world (just beat Elder and visited swamps for a first Sunken Crypt run) and so far I have two bases - the main one by the Sacrificial Stones (platform by the coast with several buildings and a port I will get to building soon), and second one on the border of Meadows with Black Forest on a coast of another island to the northwest of the main one, where I have my boars and intend for it to be an agricultural center (Huge barn-like building and walled area in front with the fences and all, so far mostly empty, moat around it is wip).

I am scouting the world to get the best locations for other bases, but I have a bit of dilemma - so far I stuck to the meadows or offshore platforms for the buildings, as I don’t really trust the spawn-supressing thing (didn’t seem to really work in Ashlands). But I want to have a network of bases for farming resources from various biomes easily throughout my gameplay.

What is your experience with bases in other biomes than Meadows? What are the best tricks to make them safe?

Importance of skills?

Hello,

Obviously I am aware skills play a role in the gameplay, but just how big?

How important is it to max out skills as much as you can?

Hip Hop’s Street Mythology

In this post want to talk about Hip-Hop mythology and dogmas from the perspective of artist who have had a personal experience with the circumstances that birthed them (note: In Prague, CZ, not US).

I have been making alternative Rap music for 7 years now. I started as a very much alternative artist who disliked Rap’s obssesion with violence and general glorification of objectively negative circumstances.

Later, certain events and personal conflicts changed the direction of my music into drill-esque street music. I never rapped about selling drugs or portrayed myself as some kind of crime lord character, but my lyrics held the promise of extreme violence toward certain individuals and I started wearing masks and hoods, because protecting my identity made me feel safer due to personal nature of the feuds and general negativity towards my person in general within some circles.

These years were the hardest of my life, and had me become disillusioned with the street mythology Hip-Hop portrays. People I knew died or went to prison, others ended up heavily addicted and ruined their music careers or lives for good. I picked up boxing, stopped abusing substances and moved away from the city to escape the environment that poisoned me and my music with the street negativity and trauma.

Hip-Hop to me now feels so obsessed with completely ephemeral things and a genre that feeds like a vulture on a real-world suffering to create a toxic illusion entertainment for materialistic ends, without a thought of consequences. Also, one of the most revealing things to me was that the real thugs, who have had long careers in crime, consider these rappers maybe a bit harder than regular civilians, but ultimately not gangster in the true original meaning of the word.

The original Gangster Rap of the Golden era feels more like a contemplation on the roots of the thuggery (Tupac - “will my child get to feel love? Or are we cursed to be street thugs, ‘cause being black hurts”), rebellion against being labeled a criminal (Ice Cube - “thinking every \*\*\*\*\* is selling narcotics”), or description of the environment that produces violence and suffering (Why we thugz, Ill Street Blues, Brenda’s got a baby), than outright glorification of violence and crime I perceive today (both in US and Europe).

Is Soundcloud still relevant?

I make alternative Hip-Hop and moved away from SoundCloud in the past to focus on Spotify and YouTube. However, I am trying to figure out whether there is possibility of it being a useful outlet for my music ventures.

I am interested in meeting niche artists and producers, and can’t think of a better place. Is it still relevant For underground community?
