Just wondering what it’s like there? We’ve got passes to be there tomorrow, and we’re looking forward to it. But we’ve not been to this venue.
What’s it like inside? Any shade at all or just be prepared for full sun? Easy/hard to get food and drinks? Wondering what the experience will be like and how to prepare ahead to make it the best it can be.
Not sure if this is even strategy anymore because it’s all constrained actions.
As I wrote elsewhere, I decided not to update 3.12.0 in the hopes that I would be able to get to Level 8 with the Lion and Kangaroo. Unfortunately, the game did in fact skip Green Egg for me in my usual slot. I was left with no alternative but to update because I believe Green is being constrained for anyone on 12.0.
What I was able to confirm (discussed between me and u/occobblepot, u/krakaboom, and u/disillusionedpie) is that you do in fact maintain your level ups after updating.
In fact, as you can see from the following photos (1-4) you even maintain any “overage” beyond that level up. However, if you have an animal that didn’t hit Level 8 (photos 5-6), you lose all progress back down to Level 7. This is *even though I spent heart gems to accumulate all of those Kangaroo points and 10/43 Lion points*.
So it’s not all rosy, but there is also nothing that can be done imo.
What a saga. I’m not sure there’s any action you can take or not take though.
As u/OCCobblepot indicated in his helpful post (with pictures!), the new green egg is progressing now for some users who have been able to upgrade to build 3.12.0.
OCC had an interesting idea, partly in response to a post expressing skepticism by me, concerning whether or not it would be better to use the prizes x10 feature (spending 5500 gems per 'pull') or stick to the traditional approach (prizes x1, spending 550 gems per 'pull'). In a nutshell, I worried that the 2% drop rate on the lion would be not mathematically worse on the x10 track, but that you'd run out of gem 'currency' faster and not get enough pulls to see the epics. OCC reasonably countered that the psychology at play would be much worse when you did get a lion, but only one, and you know if you had just hit x10 it would be ten lions!
OCC suggested doing 400 single pulls and 40 x10 pulls and comparing.
I... did not have time for that haha. So I did 40 singles and 40 x10s and I'll have to extrapolate out from the results. Some astute observers will say "but that's just doing the x10 results with more steps" and to you I say, push the button 400 times and talk to me after. (But you're right.)
Initial Observation
Here is a link to the raw spreadsheet so you can see the actual results for yourself. In conclusion, OCC was by and large right according to these initial findings. There is variance between the two samples, but nothing outside what you'd expect. More kangaroos, sloths, and hornbills as a percentage of the whole popped up in the singles; more lions (once vs none) in the x10 grouping. Honestly, it does look worse for the x10 group because almost all of the higher value critters appeared more in the singles. But I truly believe this isn't different enough to force players to stick to singles.
Psychology of a Slot Machine
"Why?" you may ask. If it looks like there is a chance you get rarer animals on the 'single' track, why waste the gems? And the answer is something OCC also said: psychology. It felt so much worse to pull a 'jackpot' kangaroo on the single track. I got one lion card in 80 pulls...if it had been a 1 instead of a 10, I would have considered uninstalling the game lol.
My advice to anyone who has yet to start: if you are thinking of doing this 'test' with singles vs x10s, do the singles first. You don't know how good you've got it until it's gone lol.
The reason for that is simple, and you'll soon see it. The numbers needed to progress are titanic. 1600 deer, for example, to go from level 9 to 10. 1600. If you pull a card that has one deer on it, you'll think death cannot come too soon. Having 'experimented' with this, I can now say I will never use a 550/single draw again without something very particular being needed/being out of gems/etc.
Swap Trick
I was a little meh about 'wasting' all these swaps when it's just the midweek tournament and I probably won't get max crown this weekend (30 away but probably too busy to really compete for third). But the eggs rotate, so who knows what activity would be active when green egg is back. I don't think it'll be the tournament any time soon (I've never been clear on the schedule for the eggs).
What I can say is set up your swaps! You get so many early on. OCC mentioned that he wasn't sure if the overrun would be 'wasted' between levels. It isn't. If you go from level 7 to 8 the excess is still there to get you towards 9. But I did find, for example, that in the first pull I'd get three animals levelling up at once, which is a waste of two swaps. Because you are likely so far over the limit when you start, there is nothing you can do about this. This isn't a feature of the 10x pull; even 1 deer is putting your deer up a level.

I couldn’t decide the best flair as this is both a Canadian-owned business and a Canadian-made product.
Ever since Gardein was bought out by the Americans, their product line has been shrinking more and more. They do still make a reasonably tasty black bean burger, but I had been looking for Canadian alternatives.
I got these at Farm Boy (ON). VG Gourmet is a company from Quebec, and the products are made in Canada. I think they are quite delicious. They remind me of those Sol Cuisine burgers I haven’t seen since they too were bought out by Brazilian/American multinational corporations.
Anyhow, I enjoyed these veggie burgers and recommend them for people who have access to them. $10 gets you 4 frozen burgers.
