Hello guys, this is probably my third post here now.

About 5 months ago you guys gave me the nod to purchase a higher mileage 08 Type S (above, PFA) The car has been an absolute dream for me in terms of reliability and functionality. There has been another one posted in my area that I am going to look at tomorrow or some time this weekend.

This is another “miley” example at 207,000 but the car is in even better shape than mine was. The only hangup for me is mine had a crate transmission put in it 40,000 miles before I bought it, and the car I’m looking at is on its original still.

With the current physical condition of the car and the guy’s transparency with answering my questions, I feel like there’s a high probability this car has been taken care of just as well as the seller claims.

My MAIN QUESTION is, how much longer can I expect out of the original transmission of this vehicle? Of course I am going to test drive it. Even if all is well, am I still on borrowed time? I know the Type S transmissions were built a little better than the first few years of production, but just HOW much better are they?

I’ve got the new talion EXB. The right rear nut keeps loosening itself and the wheel falls off before I can even come down the street and go back. I’ve never seen this before.

Yes, I have tried both a brand new nut as well as the one on the same side in the front…just in case the nuts were directional. YES, I CRANKED them down. Same issue. It falls off almost in the same amount of time every time.

My wheel hex is not stripped out. I’ve never seen this happen in all my years of RC cars.

Just bought an 8S outcast second hand that came with an XLX2/800kv combo. I have these batteries for my Xmaxx already. Currently, they are just a hair long. Are there other battery trays or some way to configure the current ones to allow these to fit? I am not seeing any free mounting holes in the bottom of the chassis.

I posted on here about 2 months ago asking if I should get one of these and got nothing but glowing remarks. So far, I’m thrilled with the car! Pic with the Honda homie 😎 (the only photo of this car I have lol)

It’s a little more on the “miley” side, closing in on 260k. Since buying it, I’ve noticed a slight rattle in the heat shield upon acceleration that I am going to get addressed simply because I don’t want to hear it any longer. While they’re looking at that I was going to have them look at my catalytic converter(s).

ONLY at operating temperature if I step on it and stay in the gas up to 80+ mph, I’ll get a bit of the rotten egg smell in my cabin, which will then subside in a minute or two after continued normal driving.

My main concern is I am about to go on a 14 hour road trip and I don’t know if this will cause me issues after extensive driving. The longest I’ve driven this car one direction so far is 3 hours. At the 2+ hour mark, my center console area was WARM to the touch.

The car’s thermometer has never been past roughly 1/3. It runs and drives wonderfully other than the ghetto ass rattle upon takeoff. No stuttering, skips in acceleration or heat issues.

Has anyone come across this before? I’d like to take care of this before it causes a bigger issue for me (if there even is an issue)
