Alternative to Jetbrains AI assistant and Continue

Hello,

For a while I've been using the integrated Jetbrains AI assistant with both self hosted models or the Claude account provided by my company, but now it tells me that I'm running out of credit and I need to buy more. Credit? For what? I'm not using their AI servers, I'm only using my own provided models, this is insane.

So the other alternative is Continue, but it was just bought buy Elon Musk and sorry but I won't use something that is owned by a neo-nazi.

Are there other alternatives? Of course there is the Claude cli, but I find it particularly un-ergonomic. I don't use it to generate code, I just use it as a Chat Bot, and it running in a terminal makes uncomfortable for this usage.

I don't want to hear people defending Fender anymore

So, this 8.1 version, pretty decent right? You've got an AI agent to parse the documentation for you, I can see how this could be useful. Oh.... except you need a pro subscription for that. So wait, you'd have to pay more for this than you would for an actual top tiers agent such as Claude? Going to pass on that.

They do have that new AI voice changer tool that looks pretty cool though and would avoid having to buy a plugin such as SoundAI voice ID, or Resing. Oh no... actually it's just a 3 months trial for a cloud service, which just has a plugin that you could actually install on any DAW.

What else is there? Stems separation and generation, cool... but you guessed it, another subscription for a cloud service, because you know, your high end computer you bought for home studio isn't good enough to run models which are probably for the most open source.

So, basically instead of getting new content with that 1 year paid subscription, you just got incitations to pay for 3 additional cloud services. Fanboys have been defending Fender like their lives depends on it, living in "lalala everything is fine" land claiming and that this renamed Studio One had a bright future ahead.

Axing most of their new contents around generative AI is dubious already, but it's not even generative AI you can run on your machine (and those who will pretend to you that it's not technically possible are just lying). It's time to wake up and stop defending those corporate practices.

Impossible to record in arranger without recording playing scenses?

Hello,

I've been trying out Bitwig studio for a few days. One thing that drove me crazy is that I was trying to record some improv in the arranger track while having scene loops playing as a background, but whenever I did that it would also record data on the other tracks in the arranger. So I did a bit of research and... apparently this is a feature and it's not possible to do otherwise? I've found people complaining about it from version 2 until 2024. Have they still not allowed this in version 6? I just want to make sure I didn't miss something.

Thanks

Best way to quickstart Bitwig studio as a DAW-fluent person?

Hello,

I would like to give Bitwig studio a try to see if it improves my workflows over the tools that I already use. I have only 30 days of trial, so I need to get into fairly quickly, which shouldn't be a problem since I'm a frequent user of other products such as Cubase and Studio One.

Is there any ressources you'd recommend for people who are already experienced with DAWs? Their Youtube official channel has a tutorial playlist but it's 5 years old so I don't know how relevant it still is today.

Thanks

Hello,

I've been trying for several days to train Gemma-4 for extracting data from a string and convert it into a structured JSON. I've tried a fair amount of different configurations, I've tried Unsloth studio and Llamafactory, but in each case it seems like the resulting lora is simply doing nothing while I had pretty good results with Gemma-3. I don't know if my config is wrong, if my data format is wrong, or whatever else. I've updated llamafactory to the latest version.

Here is the configuration of my latest llamafactory try:

bf16: true
cutoff_len: 2048
dataset: ingredients-gemma-pt-2026-04-10
dataset_dir: data
ddp_timeout: 180000000do_train: true
enable_thinking: false
finetuning_type: lora
flash_attn: auto
freeze_multi_modal_projector: true
freeze_vision_tower: true
gradient_accumulation_steps: 8
image_max_pixels: 589824
image_min_pixels: 1024
include_num_input_tokens_seen: true
learning_rate: 5e-05
logging_steps: 5
lora_alpha: 16
lora_dropout: 0
lora_rank: 8
lora_target: all
lr_scheduler_type: cosine
max_grad_norm: 1.0
max_samples: 5000
model_name_or_path: google/gemma-4-E4B-it
num_train_epochs: 1.0
optim: adamw_torch
output_dir: saves/Gemma-4-E4-it/lora/2026-04-13_2
packing: false
per_device_train_batch_size: 1
plot_loss: true
preprocessing_num_workers: 16

trust_remote_code: true
use_unsloth_gc: false
use_unsloth: false
video_max_pixels: 65536
video_min_pixels: 256
warmup_steps: 0

And an example of the kind of data I use for training. It's not the real data because it comes from my company but it's the same idea.
