This is new on my Duolingo feed. We're supposed to guess what the picture describes, but I seem to be far off the mark here. Was she doing a traditional Nicaraguan dance of victory over the oppressor? I need some context here.
I'd been doing it all wrong, and therefore dreading the once a week or so that it was required to finish the daily challenge.
I had been typing the words using my keypad, and it took many tries to get through a round. I was just burning gems to get time extensions, and it was miserable. The slightest misspelling meant I lost that word and had to try again.
But the trick is to just talk. Speak the words. If you even get close it'll count it as a match. So much easier.
So I thought, you know, Duolingo doesn’t do a great job of explaining errors sometimes. So I thought I would run my sentence through Claude. Claude corrected me and I submitted the sentence. Duolingo said no that’s wrong. Hilarity ensued.
I’ve been on a tear lately. I’ve done every daily quest for about 26 weeks. But today I have to do role-plays. And in order to do role-plays, I must have Max. I don’t have Max and I will not pay for Max. And so I guess my daily Quest streak is over today.
I mean it’s pretty close to Spanish, right? One might even call it Spanish adjacent?
Duo's flashcard frenzy seems like it's designed to just burn through gems. Especially when it's part of a daily challenge. Any tricks to get through without buying extra time?
It was a fun ride. I can read the newspaper. I can hold simple conversations. In general, I’m pretty happy. A few months ago I found myself thinking in Spanish instead of thinking in English and translating to Spanish and that’s what I knew I had turned the corner. I’m lucky to live in a community that’s 42% Hispanic so I have lots of opportunities to practice.
I'm working on a spoken word piece this weekend. My narrator is what she is in terms of mic experience. So I have a lot of clean up to do. All the basic EQ and comp stuff. A bit of Little Alterboy to get her to sound a bit more full. A little touch of verb and a couple millisecs of delay on the sides. It sounds pretty nice except for all the click and pops that the spit filter didn't catch. Time to spend some money on Izotope RX?
No! I just discovered spectral edits. And they are just remarkable. I shaved just the bits that I needed to shave and left the rest sounding natural.
Let's work on your weakest concept... and then it doesn't actually make you work on your weakest concept. Today it said we're going to work on the imperative. And while there were imperatives in the prompts, the answer it wants is rarely even the verb, but rather a noun or some other part of speech.

Oh Word Match, why don't you accept synonyms, and why don't say what part of speech you want? Don't make us guess. You could say 'to trip' or 'a trip', that would help.
I feel Duolingo does this to me when I have a long streak of correct answers. It seems that either one of these could be right and if I pick it, the other one will show as the correct answer. What do you think?
