Why the heck was Yuji so sad about Nobara "dying" when she wasn't even Top 20 in the verse? Is he stupid?

Seriously, Nobara was the victim of an annoying ass twink wearing a trash bag and a one month old, and Yuji's acting like he just lost some important Top 10 baddie like Maki or Yuki. Seriously bro, you ain't got no reason to be sad over a useless BUM like that, just suck it up and lock in already ✋😭

"Main Trio" and only one of them is reliably in the Top 10 by the end of the series while the other two don't even make it into Top 20 discussions, give me a break 🤚

I can understand Nanami, but I find it REALLY hard to believe that Gege wanted Miwa to be popular with the way he treated her character.

Don't get me wrong, Miwa is one of my favorite characters, and I know that she's the GOAT and all that. And I know she's a fairly popular character overall, but I'm calling complete and total bullshit Gege wanted her to be popular in the way he probably intended her to be given the way he wrote (or really underwrote) her:

- Most of her character revolves around how weak and ineffective she is, and she's made to look like a complete and total chump in every single fight that she's in. Which really isn't a good look when you're a character in a BATTLE SHONEN whose name literally translates to "Sorcery Fight".

- She gets some heartfelt development between her and Mechamaru, only for him to die and for that to not get developed much further.

- Her most memorable moment was when she went up against Kenjaku and put all her strength into a single sword slash to avenge Mechamaru's death, only for Kenjaku to effortlessly grab it with his bear hand and break it like it was nothing.

- She gets a single panel in the Culling Games that makes us think that she's gonna get some major development, but that ended up going absolutely nowhere.

- And to make matters worse, that sword slash that she did against Kenjaku in Shibuya? Yeah, turns out that sword slash was actually a Binding Vow to never swing a sword ever again, which was how she was able to work as a sorcerer and provide for her impoverished family. So now she LITERALLY turns into "Useless Miwa", and it makes her look even more pathetic in hindsight given that she gave up all her future potential for a slash that did nothing. And the fact that Kusakabe called her out in front of everyone like that just adds more salt to the wound.

- Her greatest contribution to the plot of the series, that being her protecting Maki from Malevolent Shrine, while genuinely being a super impressive and MASSIVELY GOATED feat given that she's only a Grade 3 sorcerer, barely gets acknowledged within the narrative. We never see Maki thank her for it, and a lot of people don't even realize that it happened since it only lasted for a single panel.

- Because Meimei slimed out the old head of the New Shadow School and Kusakabe took over, Simple Domain is a technique that is going to be available to all sorcerers, which takes away the one thing that made Miwa so special among the students.

- And finally, the main thing her character is remembered for is the whole "Useless Miwa" gag, which really isn't the most flattering way that you'd want a character to be remembered in an action series that revolves around fighting and being useful in combat.

So yeah, if Gege's goal was to make Miwa popular in a sort of Aqua from Konosuba kind of way (which is funny because both have blue hair, have very bubbly and likeable personalities, and are known for being "useless"), then I guess he succeeded. But saying that he wanted Miwa to be popular because she's "respectable" is very hard to believe given that he disrespected her character at almost every single turn. 😭🥀
