GRANDIA World
Well what a treat.
Since it launched on Dreamcast in the UK I was in love with GRANDIA 2.
I only completed it a few years ago on my original Dreamcast (often upside down so it would read the disk)
It took me over 22 years to finally complete it. one of the greatest RPGs ever told.
But it wasn't until I got to thinking that there must be a Grandia before the legendary Grandia 2 somewhere.
I found it, it is glorious.
And then I found another, and another Grandia game too. One is about the characters in a museum of something. Very strange (It is in Japanese) and is on the SATURN. It runs quite well on the R36S. But..
NO CLUE what is going on but it looks beautiful.
The other one is in Japanese and is on Gameboy, it is very much like the Pokémon style of graphics and movement, but much improved. I hope there is a version in English somewhere, as it looks rather cool.
Both are technically excellent for their respective consoles of the time .
But the absolute gem that I discovered is GRANDIA on the PSX!
It is far more graphically advanced than FFVII if you can believe it and the storyline so far is excellent.
It uses some crazy graphics scaling and is just beautiful to behold.
On further research I discovered that it took was originally on the Saturn and was ported to the Playstation.
The Saturn version is supposedly even more gorgeous (but maybe not if emulated on the R36S due to the limitations, but worth a go)
Originally only in Japanese, apparently there is an English version now.
Same goes for Grandia Parallel on GBC - if you search, there is an English language version
Sadly the Museum spin off game on Saturn does not yet have an English language version
I feel like I may be missing some information about the characters (possibly from an Anime or Manga)?
But as soon as I get time, I am going to give it a good old playing.
And of course, if you have your R36S running Dreamcast decently. GRANDIA 2 is a must for any RPG fan."
