Frustrated.

My current credit score is 740. I had a score of around 780 after years of diligently working on improving my credit. However, I recently encountered an issue that has negatively impacted my score.

I had a credit card that I hadn’t used in years. In fact, I don’t even have the card anymore, so I couldn’t log into my account. I received a phone call about a late payment. I believe I had started a subscription again, and it had automatically added this card as my payment method. I informed them that I didn’t recognize this charge and requested that they cancel the account. They agreed to do so and promised to fix the issue and close the account.

Fast forward two months, and the account has not been closed. As a result, my credit report now shows two months of late payments. To make matters worse, I couldn’t access my account to change my password because I didn’t have the account number.

I’ve disputed the charge about four months ago, but unfortunately, nothing has changed. I’m at a loss and would greatly appreciate any guidance you can provide.
