Credit Score DROP

my credit score dropped around 50 points on trans union and around 30 points on Equifax, only thing that changed is that I took out a personal loan and have a line of credit that is like a month old with no late payments that is at 101% utilization, haven't missed any payments haven't done anything crazy, been paying off everything that I needed to, why could this have happened, would paying these off fix all of this?

Should i file for bankruptcy?

This is a list of all the bad debt listed on my credit. Three are missing from my report: fortiva cc, fortiva retail, and barclays (old navy). Should i try to repair my credit or just file for bankruptcy?

Feeling discouraged. Which one of these is correct?

I have been trying to rebuild my credit now for years. Honestly it took a big turn because I had something in collections then I didn’t have really any credit since I had little to no income I’ve been a stay at home mom now going on 8 years. I finally got a car in my name as I needed one and was told it would help build my profile since I didn’t have any big credit profile as I haven’t used my name to buy anything in a long time. Why do they all look so different? What number is most accurate? I am hoping it will raise as I start paying my car, made my first payment on it literally two days ago so none of my Payments are shown yet but just looking for advice I don’t know much about credit and all the apps that show scores.

I finally broke 800 credit score after 8-9 years… and it still feels overrated sometimes

I got my first credit card when I was around 19 or 20. After about 8–9 years of always paying on time, I finally passed an 800 credit score and I’m sitting at 821 now.

What’s funny is when my wife and I bought her new car in November 2025, I found out her score was actually higher than mine. I co-signed on the loan and we still got hit with around an 8% interest rate, which honestly made me question how much a “great” credit score really matters nowadays.

One thing I learned over the years is that utilization seems to matter a lot. I never max out my cards, and I usually let a small balance report before paying it off instead of showing a straight $0 balance every month. Once I started doing that consistently, my score climbed pretty fast.

Still feels crazy that you can do everything “right” and rates are still this high.

YAY!!!!`I hit 655 after paying my last piece of debt!!! FICO 8!!!!

The only thing left on my credit are my, growing, school loans!!!!! I recently paid off my last piece of debt outside of the school debt that I owe. I was super nervous that it wouldn't move, but my experian score moved up 29 points putting me at 655!!! This helps me in my moving process where the minimum score had to be 650, it also is helping me go in the right direction when I finally am able to purchase a house and pay for other things. I will not be taking any loans out unless it's school related and I have one semester left until I graduate at the end of this year. I appreciate all the help that I received from this group, especially pay for delete. I appreciate you all and cheers to growing to that sweet sweet 700 score!!!!

Applying for Apartments

So I have a credit score of 635 while my boyfriend has a credit score of 720. Do you think we have good approval odds for an apartment? Provided we meet the other requirements ofc.

Utilization Bounce Back?

Left my balances pretty high this month and saw a big drop. I’m paying off the full balance for all cards and it won’t be a problem. I’ve been rebuilding my credit back within the past year or 2 so it’s very frustrating that it has dropped so far.

I know a lot of people on here talk about the 30% myth and the score will bounce back but is it always that way? Looking for reassurance backed by some facts or personal experiences. Is it guaranteed to go back to where it was?

Cheers

After 10 years, my last derogatory mark finally fell off

Started rebuilding my credit in my mid 20s after some rough financial decisions made between ages 18-21 and finally saw my last negative item fall off this week. My score jumped 11 points to 709. Feels surreal seeing a clean late payment history after waiting a decade. Entering my 30s this fall and still paying down CC debt, but this feels like a huge milestone.

dad’s credit card tanking my credit score ?

hi!! i’m not sure if this is the right subreddit for this, but i’m pretty sure my dad’s credit cards are tanking my credit score.

i’m 23, and i’ve been independent since i was 18. i moved out, paid for my own college with scholarships, got a credit card, and have been working full time with a salary around $35-40k since i was 20. i live alone in a relatively expensive city, and i don’t make that much at my job(s), so my credit card has unfortunately been near the credit limit for a while (it has never gone over). my credit keeps going lower and lower even though i’m not doing anything different.

my dad put me as an authorized user on his credit card before i moved out, and i haven’t used it at all since moving out. i checked my credit score to see why it keeps going lower, and it said the problem was 3 credit cards (that aren’t mine) that are at or over the credit limit. is there anything i can do about this without talking to my dad? i’m pretty sure these cards are his, and i know he has a history of debt and financial struggles. i have heard from my siblings that he has bought a new car and is buying a house in a very expensive city, but he is unemployed, and idk where the money could possibly come from. i know that my own credit card being near the limit is hurting my credit, but is it possible he is messing up my credit? it keeps sinking and idk what to do.

My credit score was like 810 as of yesterday and now I have nothing. What happened and how can I fix this?

Credit score

A couple months ago I accidentally missed a payment due to fraud on my account that caused insufficient funds. I was at an 825 score, the 30 day late payment pushed me down to 670. It’s been two months & im still only back at a 718. I don’t have any debt to “pay off” no collections to “write off”. I tried two good will letters & both have been denied.

I see people here with far worst things on their credit scores who are above a a 730 which I find fascinating. Given that I don’t have anything else bad that I can try & remove from my report, when can I expect to be back in the 800s? Thank you.

How do I go about rebuilding my credit after years of fraud?

Hello all, I am trying to rebuild my credit score after I found out that my mother has been taking out loans in my name for about 5 years. She is currently incarcerated so of course those loans aren't being paid back and I don't think she even thought about paying them back in the first place. I am now 20 and want to buy a car/go to school and cannot get approved for anything because of it. I was told to get a detailed credit report, email the borrowers, and try to file a police report. Anything else I could do? Any advice? Thank you!

will this mess up my score ?

I’ve paid off my statement balance in full for the previous month and i paid off some for this month so i won’t have to pay off as much by the next due date but it still gives me the message of late fees. will i be charged for late fees if ive already paid off the previous month ?

A question

Just bought a car, thank you. Hold the applause.

At the dealership they said my credit is 703, but I don’t have much credit. So hypothetically paying off this car with great payment timing I should be able to go get a lot better of a car, right?

got a quick question

i’m getting a truck with an auto loan through my credit union in september, starting this upcoming month should i pay off my entire credit card to 0% utilization or should i pay it off and stay between 1-10%?

Is it better for me to pay balances before billing date?

Currently, I’m paying my cards off on a weekly basis. For instance, $200 on groceries, I’ll pay the bill in a few days once it posts. I’m doing this for all of my spending lately. Is it better to pay off the cards once the bill posts or can I continue to pay them off as I spend?
