Phone Overheating on Charging Port

Is anyone else having issues with their phones overheating while on the charging port? I have an iPhone-16 Max Pro. I keep getting a message that my phone is hot and when I put my hand down in the area of the charging port and my actual phone, it is ridiculously hot. It was not even that hot here in Jersey when I first noticed it. It has now happened on hot days, but, when I have the air cranked in the car. It does not seem like it should be doing this... any suggestions? I even took the case off to see if it would happen, and it still does it.

Forge Versus Whoosh Intake

I ordered the Forge intake about 2 weeks ago and it’s backordered. It sounds like it could be as long as mid-June for it to come in. I am now considering canceling the Forge and going with the Whoosh system instead. What are people’s thoughts on both? Is it worth waiting for the Forge, which I prefer the look of, over the Whoosh?

Intake CEL Fix

Does anyone know if sxth’s intake fix has addressed the crank case pressure issue people were seeing with the previous fixes? If you haven’t seen it, someone posted a video of the sounds coming from the oil stick, which showed a clear uptick in pressure. I ordered a Forge intake, assuming I was going to have to live with the CEL, as it appeared the “fixes” were probably going to result in bigger issues down the road. However, if Sxth’s fix also addressed the added crank case pressure while ensuring the CEL is no mas, then clearly I’ll install it once the Forge comes in. Waiting on the Forge inlet to come in too, apparently they are back ordered… along with the jb4 and Powerflex mounts… I ordered from Whoosh and they said the jb4 and all 3 Powerflex bushing/mounts should ship this week. Forge, not so sure…

Getting through firewall grommet

I have a 2025 Elantra N and am attempting to install a Rockford Fosgate Punch P300-12** **subwoofer and am having difficulty getting the 8 gauge power wire from the battery through the firewall grommet. After removing the battery to access the grommet, I used a flat head screw driver to pierce it. I taped the wire to a wired hanger and attempted to push it through to the cabin. After about 2 hours, no matter the angle, I could not get it through. Any suggestions?

Suggestions for getting through the firewall grommet

Got up early to start work on installing a powered subwoofer and add the MAXTON lip extension to the back spoiler. Well, the spoiler went on just fine, as expected… but, even after watching multiple videos this week on how to install a powered subwoofer and LCO, I got about as far as step 2… trying to get the power from the battery to the back of the car, I could not get the 8 gauge wide through the firewall grommet. I probably spent 2 hours trying to pierce it and feed it through using a wire hanger and never was able to get through to the inside of the car. It seems that I am getting stuck in the existing wire harness, cuz after making a hole in the grommet, I’m able to start feeding it, but, never can get it inside of the cabin. I cut a small hole on the inside of the grommet, from inside of the cabin and can never seem to grab or see it after I started fishing it from the engine bay. At this point, I’m feeling pretty deflated. I really want to complete it myself but my confidence level went down by about 10 fold. If anyone has a suggestion or 2, I’ll take em! After consulting ChatGPT, I’m going to Lowe’s to get a fish tape and see if that helps.

Billetworkz Window Vent

Anybody have these? What’s people’s thoughts on them? Seems like a moderately priced mod that adds some uniqueness.

Octane Learning - Dealer Never Mentions It

Now that I’ve owned the car for two weeks and have been forced to navigate the world of octane learning , I have some thoughts.

If I hadn't been scouring message boards, I’m certain I still wouldn’t know what octane learning is, or that my car wasn't actually putting down all 276 HP. How is it ethical, or even legal, for dealers to sell these cars without explaining this beforehand? At the very least, shouldn't it be standard practice for a salesperson to explain the process while going over the car's features on delivery day? I even checked my window sticker; there isn't a single mention of it.

This leads to my second point: If Hyundai advertises and promotes these cars with specific performance metrics, but then "gatekeeps" owners from utilizing the power they paid for, how can they justify denying warranty claims for those who seek out tunes/alt ECUs, or piggyback tuners just to bypass this nonsense? It’s as if they are daring us to do whatever it takes to avoid the OL struggle. I find it annoying.

Subwoofer

Been going back and forth with the idea of adding a sub to help make the Bose system sound more full and complete. I hate adding aftermarket audio equipment after years spent dealing with wires, over heating amps and other nonsense when I was a teenager and into my 20s. But, when I’m on the highway (could really be anytime), with a fair amount of road noise and I’m cranking my music, I want it to be able to punch a little… and as is, the Bose system isn’t doing it for me. So, I ordered Rockford Fosgate P300-12T, a 12 inch amplified sub. There is a fair amount of videos online showing how to attach the sub to an existing stock system, so, I think I can do it. I’ll update later after it’s installed.

DRL Overlay

Anyone have some pics of Badgeskins amber delete with yellow and or dark blue? I like the idea of dark blue, but, I’m afraid it might be a little feminine or childish. I am color blind, so, my take on things can be a little skewed.

PPF

I have a buddy who owns a detailing shop and I asked him for an estimate to do a front PPF. He came back with $2000-2500 and since I am leasing my car, I just can’t justify the cost. I talked to him a little later and he said he can do the front bumper in PPF and ceramic coat the rest of the car for a total of $500. Has anyone done just the front bumper? Is it worth doing, especially at that cost with a ceramic coating to boot? After reading up on the N’s, seems like the consensus is that the paint isn’t super durable.

Best wheel cleaners

New car owner, looking for suggestions to clean the rims on my 2025 N. After driving the car a 1k in the first week of owning it, the rims were caked in brake grim. I used Chemical Guy’s Wheel Cleaner (not the Diablo) and noticed that the wheels looked dull and still had a fair amount of brake dust and dirt. Had to do a second round (rinsed wheels first, applied cleaner, let it sit for 3-5 minutes, used a soapy sponge to wash the rims, then rinsed them). What are you guys doing to make the black rims look clean and have a little pop to them?

Track Day

I’m looking for some feedback about taking my car, a 2025 N 6-speed, to a local track (New Jersey Motorsports Park) for the first time. There are events scheduled for June 12 and July 24 with open registration for new drivers.

My car is brand new (just hit 1k miles) and is stock at the moment, so this will be the first time I’ve taken one of my cars to a track.

For anyone who has tracked their car, do you have any suggestions before going, either for prepping the car or preparing myself? I know I need a Snell M or SA rated helmet dated 2020 or newer, which I might rent there or see if I can find one on Market Place.

I have some minor mods ordered: new spark plugs, an inlet, intake, upper and lower motor mounts, and a JB4 tuner, but everything except the spark plugs is currently on backorder. I assume I will have everyting installed prior to either event.

I picked up my 6-speed 2025 Elantra N last week. A little background on my previous cars: I owned two Challengers - a 2012 r/T and then upgraded to an SRT8 in 2015. Family dynamics changed, and I had to get a three-row SUV, which led me to a 2018 Audi Q7. To make it more fun and engaging, I went with a stage-2 APR tune. That ended badly about a year ago when the engine went into limp mode and ended up needing a new long block (Audi wanted $31k to replace it).

The Q7 has been sitting in front of my house for the last year while I’ve still been paying it off :( In the meantime, I was fortunate that my mom gifted me her Honda CR-V. Long story short, within the last month or so, what I owed on the Audi versus what I could get for the Audi and Honda became equal.

So, after doing extensive research, I settled on the Elantra N, as I wanted something that could be used as a daily driver but could also scratch my itch for some fun. I did test drive a couple of other cars: the Kia EV6, Honda Civic Type R, Subaru WRX, Golf R, and Corolla GR.

Full disclosure: I needed to find a lease deal that would also provide me with a little financial flexibility, so the final cost was definitely a factor. If money were not part of the equation, I probably would have purchased the Civic, as it provided the best combination of interior comfort and quality, performance and handling, and appearance. However, I definitely did not feel like the Civic was $12k better.

Matter of fact, my first impression after test driving the Elantra was: HOW THE HECK DID HYUNDAI PRODUCE A CAR WITH THIS PERFORMANCE AND EXTERIOR APPEARANCE AT THIS PRICE POINT?? When the rest of the car world is creeping toward prices north of $50k for the majority of their fleets—let alone their performance options.... how is Hyundai able to do this?

The short answer is that the interior lacks some of the softer touches and refinement offered among its competitors. . But I will add: I still think the car looks good inside, and most of the technology is on point. I am a larger dude (6'6", 260), and the seats leave a little bit to be desired. I feel squashed between the bolsters, and after a 40-minute ride or so, my back and shoulders start to ache a bit. I do expect that to improve as the seats break in, but I’m guessing longer rides will always be a little uncomfortable.

Since this is my first turbocharged car, I am loving the boost sensation that kicks in, especially in the mid-range speeds (30 to 70). It’s a very different feel than the supercharger on my Audi. The clutch and shifting feel great to me, fairly smooth and tight. Handling on this bad boy is next level… I love how the car adjusts in tight corners.

I’ve only had the car for a week but have already received numerous compliments on its appearance. The black, red, and blue combo looks unique and badass.

I’m trying to space out the mods I want to do. Up first is tint on Saturday... going with 15% all around and 30% on the windshield. After that, I’m eyeing the Velossa Tech Big Mouth and a potential lip add-on for the spoiler. The Bose system is fine, but, I wouldnt mind having a little more depth and fullness, so, I might look at adding a subwoofer. I’d love to do more performance-based mods like a CAI, tune, and HPFP, but I’m concerned about warranty issues. For now, I’ll be reading up more on the piggyback option (JB4) and CEL issues related to a CAI.
