I'm a UI/UX designer and about a year ago I started building free Framer templates as a side project. No audience, no budget, just a plan to create genuinely useful niche templates and let the affiliate model do its thing over time.
Here's what actually moved the needle:
Niche specificity over general templates. A template for AI products outperforms a generic SaaS template every time.
SEO and AEO done properly. Getting my AEO visibility score from 60% to 95% made a real difference in organic discovery.
Engaging in communities rather than just broadcasting. Framer Discord and Facebook groups drove real early downloads.
Consistent daily content on X and LinkedIn. Not every post landed but the compounding effect was real.
Patience with the 90 day affiliate attribution window. Early numbers looked flat but conversions were accumulating in the background.
