Central NB, Canada, I've been monitoring a large patch of fiddleheads but can't decipher for sure if they're the eatin kind. They have the papery brown stuff and the concave celery like stem but they seem very small and leggy. Wondering if it's just because of the shady area they're in?

Any beginner colour work tips would be appreciated!

*disclaimer - I crocheted the border and straps, as I am relatively new to knitting and couldn't figure out how to get the look I wanted besides with crochet 😂 I'll get there eventually! Didn't use a pattern, just wanted to finish up some berroco vintage scraps I had laying around :)
