Bandana sashiko

So I have a bandana that has some holes and I figured that if I were to patch them that I would use sashiko but my issue is that I need a patch for the holes but bandanas don't really have a back side so I don't know what to do. What are your thoughts?

Career landscape and college advice

Hey everyone, high school student who's been looking at the possibility of an archeology career for a couple of years now. I find it hard to find out what there are for job positions so I came here to ask, "What are the different job positions that you've seen in archeology and what do they do?" My second question is about college, it seems like every college I look at handles archaeology related degrees differently whether it's an Anthropology degree with a focus or just a flat out archaeology degree, can I please have some advice there?

Anything is welcome and thank you!

Do we think these are the native American?

Hey everyone, future archeologist here! I'm out at Roosevelt Lake, AZ for a family trip and walking along the shore I'm finding these sherds of pottery. What are your thoughts?

My thoughts are:

1.) it's native American (there were natives here

2.) They are pieces of old terracotta pipes but they are rather thin for that

Interesting information:

1.) the bottom center piece has ripples in it, my thought is that either they somehow stamped it maybe? Or it's the way that the pottery has been worn by the waves of the lake

  1. The piece on the far left is thicker than the other pieces, around the thickness of terracotta pipes.

Picture one: All pieces

Picture two: The backs of all pieces

Picture three: The rippled pieces mentioned above

Picture four: Side profile of the thick price mentioned above

Any info, ideas, and thoughts are welcome!

I need ideas for repairing this canteen

I bought this canteen off of eBay and it's great but the only issue is that the canvas rubs on you as you walk and is wearing through, you cannot take it off because of the way they constructed the canteen. How might I repair these holes?

I want to bind this spiral scout book

So in recent years the scout organization had moved away from paper back books to these spiraled ones. The issue that I have with them is that having so many holes the pages kind of crease up the page and then fall out or they simply unscrew from the spiral. I was thinking about binding it in leather. What are your guys' thoughts, opinions, and advice on this?

Has anyone thought of binding the scout book?

The spiral style book always seems to tear and fall apart relatively quickly and I've been thinking, "hmm what if I just bound it." Any tips and tricks on how I should bind it?

Technique and strategy help

I've been bottle digging for awhile now and have just been learning as I go but I just thought to come here for advice

So let's say for example you come across a new dump site

1.) what techniques do you use in order to find out how large the area of the dump is

2.) what techniques do you use to remove dirt from the dump and take it outside the perimeter of the dump

3.) how do you know when a dump is finished, it seems that mine just kinda keeps going even when I think it's done or I go in a streak if not finding anything

4.) please give me a list of tools and gear that you bring including things that aren't basics

5.) how do i go about cleaning that mineral build up off of the bottles

Any info is appreciated!

Help identifying buttons and additional info

So recently I have gotten really into scout history and vintage gear. I bought these two shirts and this pair of pants and would like to know about the buttons specifically, whether they have names, when they were used, etc. If any info that I have included is false, could be clarified, or if you can add more info onto it please do!

Images 1-3: 1950s - early 1960s shirt

Features red and white township-state patches

Flat dark brown blank collar button

Light almost coffee brown button with very faint fleur de lis symbol on it with age cracks on them

Images 4-5: late 1930s - 1940s

Features red and white Arched council patch and troop numbers

Js under troop no. There's a patch with a green background with brown words and bordering reading "BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA" with the first class emblem in yellow

Flat dark brown buttons with four scout fleur de lis on them

Image 6-7 1960s? Pants (correct me if I am wrong)

Chocolate brown buttons that read "BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA"

Edits adding more info that I somehow forgot to add in (I wish I could add more pictures)
