Good experience (for a change)

I took my Taycan for a software install to the Porsche South Orlando location today. I’ve had the appointment for over a month. And as I check in, and I’m waiting for a loaner, they tell me that the software release is not yet available in their location, so I have to wait for that to be released, HOWEVER… they asked me if I would I like to have my dashboard error looked at? Mind you… I don’t drive my Taycan too much (about 5K miles a year) and I have never seen an error on my dashboard. They proceed to show me (pictured post) of an error that popped up out of nowhere. For added context, my car is all under extended warranty and it should cover everything, but the devil 😈 inside of me was thinking, “watch me have to pay a trillion dollars for something that coincidentally is not covered “.

I was so pleased, and pleasantly surprised, that I got a call a few hours later to tell me they haven’t been able to replicate the error and that everything is “GREEN” in the diagnosis.

With so many horror stories out there, I wanted to share the honesty and good will from the good folks at Porsche of South Orlando. They earned a customer for life! ✌️

Let me give you some background. I typically do two cups of coffee a day for personal consumption. The consistency and the quality of the espresso shots could not be any better. However, once a month, I invite friends and neighbors to come over for A Coffee Morning Club and yesterday it was very well attended. About 25 to 30 people showed up so I had a packed house. What I’ve noticed is that as you start doing back to back espresso shots, and as I start getting into the mid-teens, the espresso quality starts to deteriorate. Both, in flavor profile, and in the amount of time it takes to run the shot. My preferred ratio is 18g of fresh medium roast beans, delivering 40g of espresso, at 35 to 40 seconds. What I’ve noticed is that once I get into the high teens, the shots start to become bitter, and the amount of time it takes to get 40g of espresso is 50 to 60 seconds. At first I thought maybe I was not cleaning the portafilter well enough between shots, and espresso was having trouble running through the portafilter, but I even started scrubbing the back of it to make sure it was as clean as possible. Yet this is the second time this has happened. Once I get to the 20s, I get spraying and channeling. And close to 60 seconds for brewing time.

For added perspective, my routine includes an RDT spray bottle, grinding with the Niche Zero, a spinning leveler, a full size WDT needle tool, a tamper that provides equal amount of pressure for every shot, and a puck screen. What in the world could be happening? How could I prevent this from happening in the future. What’s crazy is that if I shut down the machine for an hour or so, and I turn it back on, it starts delivering consistent shots again. I am at a loss.
