Did I mess up on my first go at pickling?

Hello, I’m a newbie to pickling. Yesterday I had my first official go at pickling and I’m concerned I didn’t do it correctly. I pickled garlic, watermelon rinds and radish. I prepped the veg accordingly and then I mixed a 1:1:1 ratio of sugar water and vinegar and some spices and salt. What I’m mainly concerned about it after I poured the boiling hot liquid over the veg I left it on the counter fully open to cool before screwing lids on and putting them in the fridge. I left them out for about 5 hours because that’s how long it took for the liquid to cool completely. Am I at risk for getting sick for leaving it on the counter and out for that long??

When will the cravings go away

I am trying to lose weight and I’ve found so many of my daily calories goes to empty carbs. I find with being in a calorie deficit and trying to eat at least 80g of protein a day it feels really hard while eating lots of carbs so I’m trying to cut them below 100g a day. Problem is I feel so hungry. I’m eating often, high protein but I’ve only been doing this low carb thing for 3 days - does it go away? My goal is to be able to eat in my calorie deficit while not loading up on carbs but I haven’t been in my deficit once the last 3 days because I’ve felt so shaky - maybe that’s the cravings. Will this diet help me to shed pounds in the long run? I find with an average western diet it’s so carb heavy that yes maybe I stay within my 1500 deficit after the day ends but I rarely ever make my protein goal and I’m still hungry. Will I even out over time and stop craving carbs as much - be able to be in a deficit while low carb? I just really want to lose 15 pounds and I have had no success on a “normal” diet. I’d also like to be able to go back to fasting but it’s been really hard on low carb. Does this get better? I’m so new to this so any advice or encouragement is welcome.

Accepted a new grad position today

Today I received a full time line on a surgical floor for a fixed term of 6 months. This was where I did my preceptorship but I am still so nervous as it does not have ratios and it was an extremely heavy floor. Everyone says it’s the hardest other than emergency in the entire hospital so … I’m very nervous. But I’m trying to be positive and remember I’ll come out so much stronger. I asked for .75 but it wasn’t offered so I’ll be full time. Looking for advice, words of positivity and encouragement! Don’t get me wrong I’m grateful I’m just so nervous. Thanks!
