Help me decide a phone I plan of buying this Flipkart/Amazon sale
Looking for recommendations for my first smartphone.
Budget is ideally ₹15k–25k. I will go above** ₹30k**, only if there's a genuinely exceptional deal/value. My goal is to get the best value, not simply spend more.
I'm joining college this August and plan to keep this phone for 4–5 years, so long-term usability matters more than flashy features.
My priorities are roughly (decreasing order):
- Smooth day-to-day performance and responsiveness
- Good processor that will age well
- Clean software with minimal bloat
- Good battery life
- 256 GB storage (I'd happily pay a bit extra for this)
- Good build quality and durability
- AMOLED display with 120 Hz if possible
Things I don't really care about:
- Camera (just needs to be decent for documents, friends, and occasional photos)
- AI features
- Premium materials/design
- Flagship-level camera performance
My usage is mostly:
- Calls, WhatsApp, Discord, Reddit, YouTube, Chrome, Gmail, Maps, UPI, music, and general daily use
- Light gaming
- No heavy gaming
- Coding, Linux, and any intensive work will all be done on my laptop, so I don't need a gaming-focused phone.
I'm not looking for the "best phone" overall—I'm looking for the lowest-priced phone that will still feel smooth and reliable throughout my 4–5 years of college.
What would you recommend, and are there any phones I should avoid? Also, given my use case, is there any real reason not to buy a ₹12–15k Redmi/Realme/Motorola phone instead? What would I actually gain by spending ₹20–25k? I'd rather buy the cheapest phone that comfortably meets my needs than pay extra for features I won't notice.
