1980 Kawasaki KZ440 Hot Idle?

1980 KZ440 that was refurbished by a friend. Carbs completely torn apart and rebuilt. Has aftermarket exhaust similar to stock but slightly different.

I'm a beginner motorcycle rider, so I'm still learning the basics. Bike will start, idle and run fine, idles at ~1250 RPM. After about 1hr+ in stop and go suburb traffic, small side streets lots of stop signs. When stopped at a light, eventually the idle RPMS will drop to ~1000rpm, engine sounds unhappy and will eventually die. Start right back up, will run fine if I give it some throttle.

I replaced the intake boots with OEM, verified no air leaks. Stock airbox, clean air filter. I was told the bike was jetted maybe a little 'rich' because of the aftermarket exhaust. I figured it was running too rich at idle when hot, so I re-set the idle mixture screws today (from 4-3/4 & 2-3/4 turns out to ~3 turns out each), ran perfectly fine again up until about 1.5hrs. Then I experienced the same issue.

I figured maybe I was overheating the bike. Pulled over, let it sit for 10 mins. Starts back up, idles fine.

Is an air cooled bike like this not capable of 1 hour in light traffic and stop lights, intermitted runs at 60-70km/h between lights?

Speeding Ticket: Trial in 4 weeks

Looking for some insight into my upcoming traffic court trial. Here is the timeline and where things stand:

  • June 15, 2025: Received a speeding ticket.
  • Sept 22, 2025: Requested disclosure. Got a reply saying video takes 6–8 weeks and to resubmit once a trial date is set.
  • May 26, 2026: Received a trial date for July 23, 2026. Requested disclosure again.
  • June 24, 2026: Requested disclosure again since the trial is a month away.
  • Today: Finally received the disclosure document.

The document contains very brief officer notes stating "bwc only" but the ticket summary also explicitly checks "In-Car Video of Offence: Y".

The boilerplate email they sent with the notes says: "If the Officer’s notes indicate that there is video evidence, it has been requested and not yet received by our office. Please allow 6-8 weeks for this process."

Questions:

a) Is the Crown required to provide this video evidence, and is it reasonable to ask for an adjournment if I don't receive it before the trial date?

b) My disclosure request explicitly asked for the officer's training records and device calibration/maintenance logs. Is the Crown required to provide these? Can I seek an adjournment if I don't receive them?
