Ex nerf Ma40k

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Based off the nerf ma40. I fully disassembled everything and primed inside and out.

To make the K (kurtz) variant I started by trimming the shroud to remove the front and top assemblies. That shortened the overall silhouet to where I wanted, but left the barrel hanging simce its actually held in by the flash hider assembly.

To fix that and fill in the gaps left behind I modelled a front plate with a hole for the barrel and a new forward top plate with a pic rail. Everything then got glued together.

I used a worker nerf to pic rail part to add the top rail on. Then wprked up some greeblies from model kits to add details on the front assembly and top end.

Red dot is an off brand amazon sight that I thought has.a Hol ish look. The ammo counter is a nerf replacement unit off thingivers that I modified with a hole for a clear display and rpund battery compartment on the side. I printed up a replacement glass part in clear resin, and backlit with an led light strip like they use for Iron Man eyes in cosplay.

Ghen I went to town with accessories lol. Up front is a PEQ type airsoft item that has a light Ir and green laser, in universe it would be to replace the light lost in the k conversion and the targeting system thats normally under the front shroud.

I used a tri rail stl off thingiverse to replave the batter part of the handguard, and mountrd a "grenade launcher". The launcher is a pump action gel blaster, m203 style sort of.

Finally I printed up a suppressor, remodelled with a hole to fit the Nerf size barrel.

Painted with rattle cans in shades of black, and hand brushed tamiya acrylic. Then a combo of dry brushing, painted scratches, and oil wash.

Hope you all enjoy.

UNSC Army Ranger costume completed (mostly)

Hey all, first time Halo builder. I've built Warhammer 40k, Star Wars, and GI Joe stuff, but this is my first foray into HALO. i thought I'd do something "easy" with less armor, like an ODST.  Hahahahahhahahahhaahahahah....

Yeah, so big shout out to all the brave souls that came before me, as it turns out ODST have a LOT of armor. Lol. Challenging as its been, this has been a great build. My son is old enough to get really into Halo now( he knows more about the lore than I do, lol) so doing something he has an interest in has been incredible. He has served as technical advisor on several parts 😄

My original concept was to do an ODST in a more forest/woodland set up. However midway through I started reading up on UNSC Rangers, and loved the concept. So I used a lot of Reach style ODST gear, but stripped down for a LRRP behind enemy lines look. I figure like any modern military, UNSC Tier 1 SF all procure and steal each others gear. I made my guy a Ranger attached to Delta 6 as part of an anti pirate/counter terror hunter killer team. I am doing another set of kit for my wife as an ONI field operative.

So my build process is sort of chaotic, and relies on Amazons generous return policy. I went with bdu's as an undersuit, a rip off of the Crye precision G3 gear. I bleached then re dyed to a dark grey/green. I weathered and muddied/bloodied it up with acrylic paints for a look like he's been in the field for a while without relief. Boots are merrel's, I thought they have a nice technical look, and they are super comfy.

I banged my head against various plate carriers and such for the armor base. Finally I found a motocross chest/back protector that I think is just perfect for the look, and by some blessing of the costume gods it had slots and parts that pretty perfectly let me mount all my gear to it without modification. I removed the hard armor on the shoulders and used chicago screws to attach the ODST shoulder armor to the vests shoulder under padding. ODST chest piece is strapped to the chest guard, as are the mag pouches.

The shin armor was an absolute biotch. I am using TPU for printing and the overhangs were killing me. Finally found the Mantis props Reach marine/odst files and used those after scaling with armor smith. I assembled everything in Orca slicer and fused them to one part, the split the lower shin and printed. Seams are a little janky, TPU is damn hard to glue to my satisfaction for durability, so I plastic welded with a 3d pen. Looks a bit ugly up close, but shows off well.

I didnt get fuzzy skin working until I got to my wife's armor (which will be another thread) so I did my standard post processing: adhesion promoter/ SEM flexible bumper texture coat/sand/more texture/paint Montana black and Krylon fusion. Then muddied/grimed everything up with acrylics, after applying decals and stencils. I like a grungy look, but not a lot of chips/silver showing. I just figure future composite armor wouldn't necessarily look silver. Nice thing about tpu is I can get worn paint by beating it on a block wall lol.

Helmet is the xcoser ODST off Amz. Modified and repainted of course. I added the new Galactic Armory visor, its not a perfect fit but with black hot glue and faith, anything is possible.

Weapon is the sidekick scaled down to 88% (I do not have spartan hands lol]. I am building others, but thats it for now. Pistol belt rig is my actual competition battle belt lol. It works, its well buil, and I like the asthetic. I attached a qls for so I just swap out the costume holster for the real one.

Stencils cut with cricut (thanks to the wife for an awesome anniversaty gift!), decals printed. Designs are a mix of canon and my own concept for a Delta 6 unit insignia.

Hope y'all enjoy. Constructive criticism or suggestions always appreciated. And if I inspire anyone to join the Ranger corps then my work here is done!

Finally, hope to see some more UNSC personnel at SDCC this year. If you see me, say Hi!
