I have a 2009 bmw 335xi coupe. Having a 2EF7 only when driving. Coolant temp hits 220 F and then the radiator fan runs on and off for about 30 seconds on low. I tested power at the fan and I’m getting proper voltage and signal command from dme. I also have Mhd so I can force the fan into max cooling and fan does run full blast. I replaced tstat and water pump last year. Found the pins for the connector on the tstat did have oil coolant dried on the pins. Cleaned them and still got the same code after driving. I’m wondering if the internal electrical of the tstat are cooked or if something else is going on.

I work in PA as an hvac tech. Been with the company for almost 2 1/2 years. I started out with 0 experience at 17 an hour as helper just bringing tools, watching the lead tech and helping with the smaller tasks on bigger installs. We mainly do residential but have had a couple of commercial jobs. Fast forward to now I’m making 20 an hour being able to diagnose and fix heat pumps, furnaces (oil and gas), water heaters (tankless and regular), boilers (still learning some things), mini splits, Rtu, straight AC systems. I’m sure there is one or two things I’m forgetting on the hvac side. I have got exceptionally well at mini splits to the point where I do them on my own now ( mainly Daikin and Fujitsu). We also do plumbing as well. I’ve done well pumps, water heaters, well tanks, toilets, and sum pumps (also probably other things I’m forgetting to mention right now). Coming from being a mechanic for a long time, I love this trade and it’s way better than what I used to do in terms of being somewhere new everyday and seeing the joy on peoples faces when they have heat, cooling, or water makes it worth it. But at 22yrs old (about to be 23) in this economy, prices are shooting up and it’s time to make sure that I am not undershooting my worth or overshooting. Would love to know what other techs think if I’m right where I’m supposed to be or if I should be looking elsewhere.
Update: I asked what I could do to get a raise and how soon it would be, he asked what my pay was right now and he said does 22 sound good. I said it’s okay but I was looking more towards 25 and up. So I guess I’m looking elsewhere in the meantime 🙃
