Have i messed up?

My very nervous pigeon seems to hate me.

She’s a rehome and has a lot of anxiety around people, refuses to en touched. I’d made some good progress with her where she would land near me and chill, but i think i messed it all up.

J has to rush to college and she was refusing to get in her cage. I didn’t want to leave her loose for 6 hours since i had a long day, and so i tried to catch her. I failed and o think ive terrified her.

She refuses to come near me and growls when im close. She’s calm with the rest of my family and I’m not sure how to show her she can trust me again. I feel terrible. We’ve had her since mid April kinda.

I was doodling sign ideas for her cage and she came and landed on me! It’s a tiny thing but she’s been home maybe 2 months now and has refused to let anyone near her. She growls when i purley hand in her cage to change her food or water and flies if we walk past too which while she’s free roaming.

Her chose to come over and perch on my foot made me nearly cry. She’s been such a nervous girl since i rehomed her this means so so much to me i can’t even explain it!

I think… she’s mostly free to fly about the house for most of the day, but when i leave for college i don’t want her free as there are some toxic plants nearby. But recently she been refusing to get in her cage. She’ll fly out the moment the door starts to close.

She’s got the recommended size cage but my dad’s currently renovating a cupboard into a small aviary type thing for her. It’s a similar size and it’s deepest but 10-20cm smaller than her current cage but about 4x taller

Anyways, are there anyways i can get her to like her cage enough that she doesn’t refuse to get in it? She also flaps and panics around dusk to get out when she is in it

I can’t hand tempt her or catch her since she doesn’t like being touched and is still nervous of us, an will fly away if you approach her

I’m so paranoid I’ve done something wrong and she hates me..
