I really need some help here. I'm worried hackers triggered a firmware update on my laptop to infect it with malware. As you can guess, I have a TON of sensitive info on it. Have any of you been in a similar jam, and can you please tell me who you went to for help? I'm really stressed right now. I was involved in a data breach (for like the 6th time. Ugh 🙄) and I just had my Microsoft account broken into. Possibly my Google account too. I'm freaked, obviously. I appreciate kind responses!

Hey...everyone? Not sure if this is a community run by cyber security fanatics or just Google employees. So, I was recently part of a data breach and I've been getting hacked. I've taken the steps I can: called the credit bureaus and put a security freeze in place, been strengthening stupid passwords (it's so bad. Y'all don't even want to know how many times I've reused passwords!), at a coworker's recommendation I installed Proton Authenticator app and got that set up for my Google and Microsoft accounts, I warned friends and family to be on guard for any suspicious DM's, emails, and texts, and I've been going into all my banking and credit card websites to try setting up stronger verification requirements. (I am so pissed that most credit card companies don't want to "pay" for the authenticator app feature, but whatever.) I'm really really good at not clicking on links or falling for scams. If anyone calls me saying they're from my financial institution, I know the first thing you do is hang up and call them yourself to inquire. For the last month I...You know what? I apologize, let me get to the point.

I decided to take my shiny new debit card and load it into the Google Wallet app. I've read it's safer. However, when it says my bank wants to send me a code, it offers two phone numbers. The thing is, one of them isn't mine, and I don't recognize it, and I'm freaked out. YES, I have gone into my security settings, and my personal info settings and the number isn't there! I don't know how to remove it, and from what I've googled, I'm not the only one who is experiencing this. Needless to say, I'm not going to upload any payment methods until I figure out what's going on and how to scrub the number out.

Any ideas, tips, or trouble shooting instructions would be most appreciated! Thank you!
