Many anime always have that one character who was made to be annoying at first but then it is revealed that they had a very tragic backstory
Popular examples of this are characters Taiga from Toradora, Asuka from eva and the others that I haven't seen. Tonari could be counted as one of them but I personally like her more than the others probably because I'm not a fan of Tsunderes and Tonari never was one. Also she did a lot for Fushi, dedicating her whole life to help him out which redeemed her for me
Before Tonari came, I thought Hayase would be that sort of a character. A villain who you'd sympathize for in a way but I'm glad that it never happened. She was truly evil and that's what makes her my favorite villain in anime because she was a refreshing one

I'm going to be honest, I stopped watching the anime after this scene
Seriously, I couldn't get myself to continue the anime after this random doll appeared out of nowhere. Idk about y'all but I'm just gonna wait until season 4 starts to even think about continuing this show
