Living in Florida been a painting for 6 years looking to make a move to New York in the next 2 years but I don’t necessarily want to stick with painting out there. Any advice on what the trades are like out there? I’m looking at electrician or plumbing work try and get a head start down here for a year or two. Are unions near impossible to get into there?

They got a job out there my issue is I have no degree I’ve worked in residential painting for the past 7 years and not something I’d really like to do out there. Is going back to school for an associates worth it? Should I switch trades and try and get in a union? Any advice helps.
I have a background of 5 years in construction painting mainly residential some commercial. Ive had an small company where I worked with retirement homes doing turnover painting for units that were vacant needed to get rent ready. Ive recently started looking in scenic painting in new york and was wondering what the work life is like? what is the pay like? is it a hard industry to get into? does my experience help?

i got my 2nd dui- property damage in Florida blew a .18, i rear ended someone in a drive through (very minor accident). My first was out of state in Minnesota about 3 years ago have now hired a private lawyer. Has anyone had a similar experience or advice on what i could be looking at?
