A Kidney, A Life

Hello everyone, and thank you for allowing me to share this.

My name is William Douglas, though many people call me Bill or Beaker. I’m reaching out with a very personal request.

I am currently in need of a kidney transplant, and I’m trying to get my story in front of more people. I know living donation is a HUGE thing. So I’m simply asking that you please read my story, keep me in your thoughts and prayers, and consider sharing it so it may reach the right person.

Sometimes a story has to travel through many hands before it reaches the one person who feels called to help.

Reddit is being a pain is not letting me post the link directly here, so I’ll place my story in the comments.

Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and for letting me share this with your community. It truly means a lot.

Looking for a Kidney

Most people don’t see the part after the transplant.

In 2023, I went through a liver and kidney transplant. My liver survived. My kidney didn’t. Since then, it’s been dialysis (at Latrobe), weakness, learning to walk farther again with a cane, and trying to stay strong enough to qualify for another kidney transplant.

Now I’m fighting for a second chance.

A living donor could save my life and cut years off the wait. Even sharing this post could help the right person see it.

If you’ve ever wondered whether one person can truly change someone’s future... this is one of those times.

Please share. ❤️

Thank you!

William

Liver vs kidney transplant list

Got my liver, kidney failed

Holy cow. The liver was easy to get on the list (3 weeks of waiting) . Kidney , I'm having to jump through hoops to get on the list (and I'll be waiting around 4 years)!
