GAS is killing me!
Hey everyone,
I'm a bass player and singer in a 3-piece band (bass, drums, guitar), and I'm having a really frustrating issue with my in-ear monitoring.
My setup is:
Behringer X32
Shure PSM 300
KZ IEMs (KZ10 Pro)
Comply TX-500 foam tips
The problem is that the sound in my IEMs is extremely muddy and bass-heavy during live shows. When the three instruments are playing together, everything seems to blend into one big low-end mess. The bass and kick in particular seem to mask everything, and I struggle to clearly hear the guitar and the attack of the drums.
I'm a bass player, so I obviously need to hear my bass clearly, but I don't actually need a huge amount of low end in my ears. What I want is definition and separation.
The weird thing is that the Comply tips give me a very good seal and isolation, but I'm wondering if they're contributing to the excessive low end.
I've also been wondering whether the KZ IEMs are simply the weak point here. I've considered switching to something like the Shure SE215, but I'm not sure if that would actually solve the problem or just give me a different version of the same issue.
I've already considered that the problem might simply be my IEM mix on the X32, so I'm going to experiment with significantly reducing the bass and kick in the monitor mix.
Has anyone experienced something similar with KZ IEMs in a live band setup?
Would you blame the IEMs, the foam tips/seal, or the monitor mix/EQ first? And would switching to SE215 make a noticeable difference in terms of separation and clarity?
Any advice from other bass players using IEMs would be really appreciated!
Just got the PSM 300 system working with my kz zs earphones.
Tested it live yesterday.
For me:
-way too much static/white noise even when the transmitter is off.
-wtf is that jack input when sennhi and other brands use canon jack inputs?
-some tiny dropouts even though the venue had an antenna combiner...
-reposition battery error 3 times!
Overall, poor experience for the money.
Had a cheap t bone 2.4 GHz system before, sound worked nice and smooth but wanted to have something more "pro" and "secure"and the ability to scan frequencies..
UHF is better for shuuure with lower congestion but now I'm in the process of sending my Shure system back.
Help me change my mind!
Could you please help me identify this Japanese pedal?
