I want an 800 combo. I haven't tried either, just a 100w head, and that sounded great.
It's going to be a practice amp/studio tool. The upside to having a 50w is that I might be able to use it for gigs too. And in my mind, 50w just sounds better on paper. More is more, am I right?
I guess my question is; Is the 50w combo any better than the 20w combo? Because the 50w is a bit harder to get.
New (oversized) bedroom amp.
Got it for CHF280 (about 300 USD)
Hello,
I recently bought this used Super Lead. I was interested because it was that PPIMV mod in the back. But after opening it, I realized two lamps were missing. From what I understand from internet it could be intended to reduce the power of the amp. Could someone clarify all of this for me ?
Thanks :)
This thing is a beast. Never thought I’d own one myself but here I am.
My first Marshall amp and my first tube amp. DSL100HR paired with a 1960A cabinet.
Does the DSL 40CR need the C19 mod ? is this only for the previous model ? Does it make the lead tone less ice picky ?
I picked up a JTM60 out of curiosity and because I got it really cheap (160 CHF). Cosmetically it’s in pretty rough shape, but it works perfectly. The sound honestly blew me away. I figured it must be some kind of budget Marshall because of the price, so I’m wondering—what’s the catch?
I’ve heard people talk about heat issues, but I guess if this one has survived 30 years already, it’s probably not too bad.
If I take it in for a service, what parts would you recommend replacing as preventative maintenance while it’s on the bench?
Got the studio classic head on Monday, and this thing rips!! Extremely loud even on 5 watt mode, I can’t play it without an attenuator unless nobody is home. But overall I cannot recommend it enough if you love that early thrash tone.
1980 JMP2203 :-) I had an SC20H a couple years ago but now I see why people say it’s not the same, there’s just an OOMPH with this. Has 6550 power tubes. Sitting on a 1960A that’s loaded with UK greenbacks. SD-1 in front of course!!
I recent bought a marshall 8222 2x12 cab, it has 2 celestion G12T-100s in it , I wanted some opinions on it, thanks for your time!!
As of recently I’ve become a proud owner of a 1987 JCM 800 2210 and man is it loud! The two channel switching, different voicing due to the diodes in the gain stage and the fx loop is a little more suitable than the great 2203.
The tolex 4x12 cabinet is quite battered, but sounds great and for an €100,- extra, quite a steal. Very much so when I opened up the back plate and found 4x 12” greenbacked speakers. Two of them have some specks of white (maybe moldy specks) on them, but it seems to not harm the sound.
I was wondering if these are Celestion G12M Greenbacks or just knockoffs? The codes on them read N 9BK and O29 JB.
Very happy with the both of them!
Recently bought a JVM215c. Really enjoying it.
Only problem I’ve come across is, the orange and red settings on the overdrive channel squeal like there’s no tomorrow. Green setting is fine.
After looking online, I’ve noticed a few others noting this but some of the replies are saying maybe a tube is going or the amp could be defective in some way.
So I suppose my question is, is this a common thing with JVMs? And if so, what’s the best way round it?
I’m running the amp in 4cm with good quality cables
Sound generated is tops , GIB Burstbuckers make for perfect match.
Pedal on top - TC 3rd Dimension.
Amp head sitting behind DSL - 900 Studio 20w.
DSL is sitting on cab containing 112 V30 Mesa.
2025 Gibson 50s Standard - My baby of course.
