Heard a story about a guy in Alaska getting swarmed by so many mosquitos that they sucked him to death. Is it possible, and how many bites/mosquitos would it take?

My dad is suffering from Alzheimer’s and other brain issues, and he is a former hunter. His doctors have suggested coordination games to help keep the brain active, so we have been playing darts and ping pong with him, and it’s awesome because I get to see him smile again.
I’m looking into getting him a couple Nerf guns so we can target practice in the backyard, and I wanted to know if anyone has suggestions of guns that have good power to them.
