Has anyone figured out which module on new cars leak privacy data?

Hello everyone.

Im gonna skip the background of how i got here. Im sure no one cares. Do we know which module is the one that captures and sends private data to these shadow companies and does anyone know if the new BMW 2 series has any driver facing cameras?

Iv been wanting to get a new car to tear into the tech inside these cars but im very unhappy about the privacy and data collection and its the main reason i dont own a new car. To much useless tech garbage in them.

My plan is to isolate the module or find out how it transmits privacy data. If its collecting information it means there is a server somewhere in the car that writes to a database. Clear the database clear the privacy information. Now im 99% sure its not that easy. Plan B is remove the entire module but knowing car brands rhey probably built it into the ECU. So if that fails Plan C ill probably do a B48 swap throw on a Halltech and call it a day. Convert it to rack an pinion if it has electronics steering assist. (Yes i know its a lot of work). ABS and SAS modules will be wired in to work with ECU. Facotry dash, infotainment and warrenty can get fkd. Dont care about those. Ideally you would want it all tonwork together nicely and look pretty but my hypothesis is those privacy collection tools are embedded so deep you cant get rid of them without rebuilding the whole canbus and electrical grid. Im hopeing there is an easier way to deal with this that i dont know about. Like a USB C deauth module or something like that. Iike just DDOS it or something basic.

Im just wondering how the guys are solving the privacy issue. Knowing that my car is transmitting everything i do and everywhere i go is mental. Id rather get a bicycle or take an uber. Until then im still driving my 2004 model car.

TL/DR: how to make the car stop collecting private data or send data to advertisers (pulling fuse isnt enough)

Edit: thanks everyone for commenting. I apprecaite everyones input. Just to clarify. I was an automotive specialist for 20 ish years but due to my boda having a hissy fit i legally cant do the work i used to so iv been out of the indistry for a bit. I ahve older cars which are great. Im specifically looking at most modern most advanced systems to date and how to deal with privacy. Everyone should have access to privacy. Your car should be for freedom and expression. Not a surveillance appliances thags spying on you. Just because.

Most annoying part of accounting/payroll

Hello reddit.

I hope everyone is well today.

Iv had the idea of building an accounting system for the every day man who is starting a business. Think mobile tradie and mom n pop shops. Mostly busineses from 0 to 50 employees that dont need all that extra fluff that they charge you for. Im pretty excited about this and i think its going to help a lot of small businesess and new businesses get off the ground and take over the accounting stuff so they can focus on actually runing the business.

Now there are 100s and 1000s of these payrol systems out there and its a highly competitive market but we arent planning on being millionares. This is more about providing quality products to people who need them without exploiting them with super high subscription fees. Its more about having a 1 stop location where all the necessities are in one place. Well that is the plan. Time will tell if that is possible. I know its almost wishfull thinking cause there are so many of these out there but i truely believe this can help small and starting business get ahead.

Asking smaller business owners, what are your biggest headaches when it comes to accounting? Would it be payroll, tools going missing, keeping up with vehicle maintenence, do you also keep forgetting about debit orders going off? Would you like to know your profit/loss every 1 hour? Do your staff forget to sign in/sign out and you gotta go fix it or are you just annoyed that your stock take NEVER balances?

I really would like to hear what people actually need instead of just making more AI slop, i want to make a system by humans for humams without a machine telling you what it thinks you should be thinking about.

This is for the community so Clcomments welcome. Positive or negative are fine.

Thank you

Lightspeed in a black hole?

Q1.) How is light affected by gravity of a black hole when it has no mass?

Q2.) Is a particle without mass not a field? (Depends on Q1)

Q3.) If light cant escape a black hole. Does that mean if you fall into a black hole some part of you may reach light speed right before you hit the singularity?

Q4.? Will you spagetify if you approach the singularity theoretically speaking in a worlf where it be possible for you to approach light speed.

Edit: from the perspective of you. Not an ourside observer.

Would you say cloud security is AI future proof?

This is a repost from another subred.

Hello everyone.

Do we as a community beleive that cloud security on platforms like Azure AWS amd such are resistant to AI due to the sheer level of complexity and massive context AI would need to manage a single organization?

From my perspective AI does not have the reasoning and logic to be able to perform AIM and and cloud security administration. I mean it can do vuln scans and some cool tasks maybe even write a few lines code but its all based off datasets. How will it detect a new zero day when it doesnt habe any data? What if the AI gets stuck and deletes all the endpoints off the system? Im just not convinced AI can replace humans at this level. It can do security tasks but not all of it. And it does it "goog enough" as they say.

AI is like a very overly enthusiastic intern. They can do everyday tasks well but you need to keep an eye on them just incase it decides to set the building on fire while shouting "i fixed all your vulnerabilities, yay"

Would you say this belief holds true? I need to challenge this idea and not get too comfortable. Having worked with AI since it fisrt made its debut im still not convinved it can do the job. It can help the job, but it cant "do" your job.

Cold weather advice for a Queenslander?

Hello everyone.

It has been a long lasting bucket list item of mine to go snowboarding and honestly iv never even seen snow and i look for a jacket when is 19 deg on the thermostat.

This year i decided for whatever reason im heading to mt hotham in mid july. Maybe a midlife crissis or i hit my head i dno but im going. I got the gear and all but i realised i dont know jack shit about alpine frost conditions.

My first concern is staying warm in -6 degrees, yes i know about layers. Merino wool mid layers and shells but its more like do i need an alpine sleeping bad for the lodge im gonna stay in? What shoes would i need when im not riding and just going to get snacks. Will moisuture build up in my clothes when im inside and feeze when i go outside? Do i need to worry about fortbite?

My second concern is getting around. They say id need snow chains? Iv never driven in snow but my car has a snow mode. Is it safe to walk in snow? People are saying a lot about waterproofing. Is snow wet? Do i need special shoes to get to my car and my cabin room?

And lastely is safety. This is something im strugling most about. For people who go regularly its general knowledge but i wouldn't know what to do if there was a storm. Should we stay inside. Who would i call if im in trouble? Im going by myself so no one will check on me. If i go missing no one would know im missing for weeks. Are there any specific dangers i need to watch out for?

The more i think about these things the more i think about it i realise im ill prepared for this trip and i dont know the terrain. I dont wanna be the guy in the news that dies at a resort cause he tried to lick the pole to check if it was a real thing and got stuck.

Im questioning weather I should go at all but on the other hand i just need to accept im not gonna know and just have a go and figure it out along the way. I figure if i can get some good baselines down to not get frostbite or freeze i should be good.

TL/DR; Does anyone have good travel advice for a first timer to an alpine region to not fall victim to the elements?

Thanks in advance

How to get better at OSINT in 2026 Q2? My friend may be a con artist

Hello everyone

Im new here so please correct me if im out of line.

Long story short i suspect a childhood friend of mine has become a scammer. I think she has actually been doing this for longer than any of us knew and im torn because this is an important person to me.

We went to the same primary school and both of us had terrible childhood and young adult lives but stayed in contact on and off. Decades later o moved overseas and i went from mech engineering tech to cyber security and i build systems to keep people safe and work with biometrics and dabble wirh surface level osint reverse image seach and such.

So they recently did the "my phone exploded" posted it on their socials and asking for money for a new phone and medical bills. Stupid me fell for it and sent a small donation without checking i mean i know this person since 2003. All our friends know her too. I didnt think twice if it. But i decided to do a search on the image to see how often this happens and its litterally the factory image from 2016 of the note 7 cracked and exploded. She sent an image of how burnt her hand was. I also located rhat image on a profile with 7 followers and 2 following on a popular image social platform i wont name through google lens but when i went in i couldnt find the image except in the thumbnail of the album

I scanned for EXIF data but found none cause it was sent via whatsapp. I went on their facebook and i saw litterally all their portrait images have been AI edited and the eyes are fake so i dont get any face matched by using their social media platforms.

Yandex image search has nothing.

Bing has nothing

Google lens picked up 1 result under exact match of the hand injury (1 year ago)

Lenso.ai has 2 matches with one on a freelance jobsite that i can get to because it has a bad gateway and 1 to a booktok link but the image doesnt show on the page.

All picked up a reverse image of the broken phone.

I couldnt find metadata on anything except the photo id a 1.5mp camera unkown

That is it. Not one single other result except linked in but that profile has had no activity since 2019 so doesnt count.

So i dont feel i have enough intel to confront them and should i even confront then at all? Life is pretty hard right now i get that. But this is a scam. I do need to be able to prove it? Could they have gotten actually injured and just used generic images to suppet their case? Should i try find their location?

Seeing that i am in cyber security and i litterally started tdoing this becUse scammers are getting away with it and exploiting vulnerable people by playing on their emotions. This is exactly the kinda things i want to protect people from.

So my question is how do i confirm this is the case and im kot suffering from self confirmation bias? What if they are telling the truth and just bent some rules to make it more believable and then i rain down on them from low earth orbit and all hell breaks lose.

How do i get better in OSINT. These cases are becoming more and more common and im finding it hard to distinguish between what is real and what isnt?

Any advice welcome.

Just to be clear im not asking for investigation. Im asking what i can do to gather more intel as i am a better developer than intelligence person.

TLDR: childhood friend may or may not have become a scammer. How can i OSINT better to know if they are telling the truth or scamming?

Better to buy theboard you love thats above your skill level or ride a lame board at your level?

Hello reddit. I need some perspectives.

A: Ignore the sales guy and crash a lot, make people cry and trigger avalanches with my fat arse on my libtec orca / BSOD

Or

B: listen to the sales guy and crash less often with my Burton radius / K2 Embassy snowboard?

Edit: i removed the background story. I dont think its relevant to the question.

Ai is infecting Reddit. Dont share your personal details.

This post is for the community on this subredit.

As many of you have noticed AI made managed and run subreddits are everywhere.

Yesteday i ean into a group called AusPayslips. This entire subreddit is AI. Made by AI. AI postings. Ai comments AI reaponses. Everything. Do not post your details on these subredits. Some of you are smart enough to know that already but this isnt obvious to everyone.

Reddit has signed up with major AI partners and reddit gets searched for relevant information. Subredits are created to mess with these AI results. If enough bots comment and post on subreddits it swayes the AIs understandings of what the correct data is. This has major implications as a thread like AusPayslips will now affect data statistics pushing down the average wage. Even though it isnt. Data will get collected by news agencies who dont do their research properly and now the general understanding is everyone is overpaid. We have already seen this happen in other rubreddits. Google it if you arent sure.

If you arent sure if someone is an AI bot or not. Dont interact. Your information is being used to train AIs and how all this works. This isnt what this group is for. No one should know your perosnal finances for any reason other than you. Be very careful not to give financial advice to strange looking accounts.

Protect your assets and your investments and don't expose your details to the world. Check the profiles before commenting. And most importantly dont feed the machines. You are just a 5394652789202 in a database somewhere in a datacentre. Your wellbeing is not their priority

Again most of you already know this but be careful out there. I feel if i dont speak up no one else will. Its clear as day its happening all over.

Thanks for your time. Be careful out there.

Edit: thanks for the Buzz Worthy Post badge. You are a great community. Im not used to this much attention but thank you all. And please be safe out there. Its getting wild

Can magpies commit premeditated "actions"? 2nd opinion needed.

Good day everyone.

I think i saw a magpie attempting to get another bird run over by cars.

So two weeks ago in Springfield QLD at the roundabout by springfield parkway and woodcrest way. i was driving back from coles towards my house at around 3pm when i saw off in the distance a magpie chasing some black bird i assume it to be a small Raven. The magpie waited until i was right ontop of them and then swooped the black bird right infront of my car. I had to hit the brakes ro avoid the bird. I love Ravens and Magpies. However the magie didn't pursue the black bird. It swooped the black bird then sort of held back to watch it unfold. If i wasnt aware of ny surrounding and happen to glance upon the magpie at that moment while diving i would have it hit.

Wierd i think. But these the happen. Mag pies swoop. Its what they do even though its april. Didnt think much of it. And then it happend again. Same magpie same stretch of road. Some other much smaller brown bird i didnt know. That was Saturday passed that passed now.

Today i drove by there and unfortunately it pains my heart but i see the magpie unfortunately must have fallen victim to a car and saw it in the road and is no longer with us. Meaning it must have happened mord timez than i am aware of.

Am i going insane or are Magpies actively able to plot the demise of kther birds in their territory? There has to be some coincidence about that tree just happens to be close to the road and just happens to be frequented by other birds.

Are there any othee scientific studies of Magpies doing this. By this i mean premeditated fatal harm on other animals?

It has been stuck in my head these last few weeks that a bird actually tried to commit a premeditated crime by deliberately chasing another bird infront of oncoming cars. This is also a very busy intersection so im hoping someone else saw it too and not just me

Can anyone shed any light on this matter? Doe magpies do this or is this just some crazy coincidence and i need to chill and take off my tinfoil hat because birds cant do that.

Thanks

TLDR: magpre tries to take out a raven by chaisng into oncoming traffic. Is this premeditated or crazy coincidence?
