I have a need to type the middle dot character • regularly for reasons.

I'm not a Linux noob I've been using it on and off for years.

I know that the Compose Key exists and what mine is set to: Right Alt.

I'm using Mint:

There are so many helpful pages which tell me that it's various things but I can't make it work with Compose-period, Compose-double-period or any of the things which "AI" tells me to do.

I can get by with:

• Javascript which puts the character into my clipboard
• Unicode composition which, as Control-Shift-U-2-0-2-2-Enter or seven keystrokes, is not ideal

Any ideas?

I don't suppose there's any kind of hack which lets me use the keyboard shortcuts I already know for Mac and for Windows?

[EDIT: this was a modern film, not about the rise of historical Nazism in the 1930s]

I never actually saw this film but only saw it reviewed and I've forgotten the title.

The gist of it is, a romance/rom-com type plot in the foreground with two [straight] people getting together as a couple, the twist being that they're oblivious to fascism creeping up on their society/city in the background.

It's an intriguing premise but I never got to see it and and it's very hard to search for. I would estimate I was reading these reviews 20 years ago.

AS REQUESTED: I will identify the council as Canterbury-Bankstown. I will not identify the pool for privacy reasons. I imagine all their pools are the same.

I just turned up for a casual swim as I sometimes do and there was a queue of six or seven people, plus a couple of others looking frustrated, struggling with iPads in rugged casings.

My local council, without any warning, has handed over the running of the pools to a private company.

We were asked to sign up on a confusing form, we were asked for private medical information, we were forced to have our photos taken, and when I looked at the website later I appear to have consented to various things which I absolutely never consented to. The company is not an Australian company and doesn't have a privacy policy I can find.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, though one lady in front of me started ranting about COVID and DNA. Another person said "this is just like China!" and that's not racist because he was from China.

Apart from all the privacy issues it took more than twenty minutes to get through the process. It was incredibly frustrating. I really wish I'd just refused and walked out.

Preferred format would be ^CD /Y but you can't do that in titles
