Looking for comics, probably X-Men, from the 90s which were specifically about Israel-Palestine conflict
I feel like I'm going a bit crazy here but I distinctly remember reading these comics in the 90s. I'm fairly sure they were X-Men comics, but not 100% sure.
What I remember:
- a two or three comic series
- specifically about Israel / Palestine: not some arch metaphor where it could be read as Gaza, South Africa, Northern Ireland etc where one population is oppressing another
- It was quite controversial when the first one came out and there were lots of angry letters; then when the second and possibly third comic came out it kind of got turned around and it was revealed that >!someone claiming to be Palestinian was an evil mutant/supervillain misrepresenting themselves!<
Anything to do with Israel/Palestine is incredibly hard to search for, and these comics came out pre-internet, and there's the character Sabra muddying the waters too.
I would happily read through a synopsis of every X-Men published throughout the 90s to try and find these comics but that doesn't seem possible.
Anyone remember this?
