Strength of schedule and correlation to fantasy production

I did some searching and didn't find much and not anything recently. Anyone have any data or insights on how strength of schedule at the beginning of the year holds up against the fantasy production that ended up happening? Maybe that's all just wrapped up in projected vs actual fantasy points.

I feel like the preseason SoS is kind of a bogus thing to put much weight on but that's not backed by any data at all.

I think as the season goes on and you are looking at the rest of the year based on how things have gone so far, then it is a lot more useful but by then you've already made your draft day decisions.

What do you think about strength of schedule and fantasy as you get into draft season?

Season-long DFS League (NFL) - $30 - Unlimited Members

Full disclosure, this is hosted on a platform that I made (hoping that's ok on this sub). That said, I want to see what it looks like to have a large league like this, aiming for 20+ members. There's no actual limit since it is DFS and not a pre-season draft.

Quick note on the format and playing with strangers...collusion is not possible in this format because you do not do anything with other teams like shady trades. Everyone is responsible for their own weekly lineup and that's it.

To join, DM me and I will get you the links for league and League Safe.

Details

  • league is on seasondfs (dot) com
    • format is that everyone in the league submits a DFS lineup each week
    • no draft, waivers, etc.
  • it is a points league
  • weeks 1-18
  • main slate only (Sunday noon and afternoon groups)
  • default DraftKings scoring and composition (50k weekly salary cap, PPR, 4pt pass TDs, bonus pts for yard thresholds)
    • 1 QB
    • 2 RB
    • 3 WR
    • 1 TE
    • 1 Flex
    • 1 DST
  • payouts in two levels - paid at the end of the week 18
    • every week there is a prize for the highest point lineup - $1 per team per week (so $18 of your $30 buy in)
    • season-long standings will pay out top two for the remainder of the buy-in ($12 per team)
      • 75% to top team
      • 20% to second
      • 5% to third
    • $30 buy-ins due before week 1 using League Safe (with majority approval payout)

Idk if those payouts are confusing to read but paying the weekly high is important to keep an incentive every week. To play out a scenario in a 20 team league, if you win a week, you get $20 (minus the $1 that was your part of the weekly pot). So if you win two individual weeks, you are in the black for the whole year. If there end up being 30 teams, it would be that $30 instead of $20.

Then with the remaining buy-in of $12 per team, it goes into the season-long pot and pays out like the percentages above.

I have ran leagues like this the past few years (manually through DraftKings) and the weekly payout part is key to keeping people engaged, especially with internet strangers. And it makes that 6.5 hour window on Sunday even more fun to tune in for because it is the beginning and end of the fantasy week in this league.

I think I covered everything important but let me know if there's questions.

DM me to join! Bring a friend or five. I will keep trying to grow the league up til week 1.

New fantasy platform for leagues wanting to use the DFS format, including a public demo

Hey everyone, I know there’s been a whole lot of posts about something someone has made, so I will try to make this worth your while. This is not a quick hit sort of project, so hopefully it has the depth that many of you have commented on wanting in this sub.

TLDR: I made seasondfs.com, a website to manage a fantasy league using the DFS format. The quickest way to check it out is the public demo demo.seasondfs.com or the page of screen shots (seasondfs.com/product-tour/). It’s active now for 2026 leagues.

I have so much I could say on this, so I am happy to go deeper in the replies. Today, there aren’t many options to use the DFS format (aka salary cap weekly lineups) in a traditional league setup. I have been running a free DraftKings league with an accompanying spreadsheet for a few years now.

The league has turned into my favorite, so doing the manual spreadsheet work and dealing with DK has been worth it. Since last year, though, I decided I could make a website of my own and address all the things that I found lacking, while still holding onto the fun DFS part.

I know this format isn’t going to appeal to everyone and I won’t make the argument it is better than anything else, just a potentially new way to enjoy fantasy.

It’s been posted about over the years, and even recently on this sub, but the core concept is you have your league, but instead of a draft from a single player pool and waivers and the roster management stuff, everyone just submits a weekly DFS lineup based on the rules you set for the league.

You may be interested if...

  • you like DFS but wish you could customize the lineup structure, budget, and/or scoring
  • you have a hard time assembling a draft day/time or getting enough league members to fill a league
  • season-ending injuries upset you
  • want to try something new
  • want to try a mega league with a lot of members (this format supports any number in your leagues since there is no single player pool to pull from)
  • you like ad-free and non-gambling focused ways to interact with your fantasy platform

You will want to skip if...

  • you don't like DFS format
  • require a mobile app
  • want paid contests within the platform
  • you don’t want to pay $24-39 for the software (beyond the free tier)

I've put a lot of work into this, am happy with where things are at now, and hopefully some others find this fun as well. A lot of the features have come from feedback and things I never considered myself (like the entire head-to-head format here).

Thanks for any comments in advance!
