We released the demo for our tactical side-scrolling action game, Valkyrie Raid.
You pilot a gunship while deploying and supporting ground units on a living battlefield. Tanks, walkers, missile batteries, and infantry push the frontline below while you provide air support above. The goal isn't just to survive—it's to move the entire front forward.
The project has been in development for several years as a small indie studio project. One of the biggest challenges has been combining side-scrolling shooter gameplay with real-time battlefield command in a way that feels readable and satisfying.
We recently launched our Steam demo ahead of Next Fest and have been using it mostly to learn what works and what doesn't. Some things we were confident about turned out to matter less than expected, while a few simple gameplay clips ended up attracting much more attention than polished promotional material.
Right now we're focused on improving the opening experience, visual feedback, and overall battlefield readability based on player feedback.

Would love to hear what you think of the idea — mostly whether running both layers at once looks fun or just stressful. Always glad to hear honest first impressions.
(GenAI disclosure: concept art was generated with GenAI, then edited and integrated by hand.)
