Overwhelmed as a new MA

This is my first MA job and I am overwhelmed. I was told i would be doing a lot of hands on tasks, how ever I do essentially none.

This position requires me to prechart, send labs, send in RX refill requests, scan all faxs into the EMR (ive barely learned how to do a few different ones, send out a lot of faxes, make a ton of pt calls, take a lot of pt calls, transfer and build pt accounts from an older EMR to the new one im still currently learning, voice mails, route voice mails, give out and keep track of samples and im sure there is much more im missing. We do not do any of our own scheduling or prior auths which helps.

Im just overwhelmed. I was told it was more hands on and the only hands on thing i do is room a pt and take vitals. The rest is solely admin work. Seems like the hardest part is learning the system itself.

Any advice or tips? I do have one day a week that they aren't taking pts to try to catch things up. Is there a better way you guys set your days up to maintain all this?

Help with my 14 year olds messed up friends!!

Help with 14 year old and messed up friends

I need some real advice about my 14 year old daughter. Her first week of high-school ended horribly!! Her school had a "welcome back" after school party, held at the school. When i picked her up after, she was high. I was concerned it was more than weed by how she acted, so i checked her phone and ended up being right. But what i found in that phone blew my mind!! She had a discord group with her and her friends. In that group, I was able to find conversation about her smoking for the last year. She had also been doing this at a friend's house that I had trusted. It also came to light that this friend had also brought this stuff into my home. When I confronted the other mom about it, she apologized for what her daughter had brought into my home. But then it also came to light that she was fully aware that my daughter had been getting high in her home. She was also aware that her other adult daughter was the ones buying and supplying it. I was never made aware about this. And it had been going on for a year. There was more stuff happening in the discord with her and the other girls as well. They constantly talked about shoplifting with photos taken of the stuff they stole, self harming, drinking, saying utterly disgusting things about their own families.(thankfully my daughter wasnt involved in this other stuff) I found out another friend in that group was an older kid who was also talking about using safe2tell to make false reports about other kids to try and get them arrested, going to sleepovers at other kids' houses with the intention to steal from their home, planting other items on kids and turning them into the school in hopes to get them suspended, and then this same kid sent a audio/video message of sexual content of another boy to the group of girls... there is so much more!!

I tried to reach out to another parent of a kid who is involved in this, who is a teacher at another school and was essentially blown off.

Am i really over reacting to all this?? I keep getting told "that's normal teenage behavior" and being blamed that it must be my fault that I made my kid not trust me for her to do this... but when I talked to her, she said " who was actually going to tell their parents when they're smoking weed?" And that the other girls mom told her not to tell me or I wouldnt allow her back in her home and how the friend had showed her how to hide things in her phone.. she also had proof of this..

I really dont know what to do. My concern shifted from my daughter getting high to who these kids are that she is around and the parents who enable it and/or dont seem to care. Clearly she still has consequences for all this. None of those kids are allowed back to my home and i removed and blocked all access to all her social media apps (i found more messages in other apps).

Please give me helpful advice. Yes I have had all the conversations with her all weekend. But I truly am being made to feel like im over reacting to all this. Am i???

My 14 year old came home high

Im at a loss and I dont know what to do or how to currently react. My 14 year old daughter just started high school this week. Day 4 to be exact. Today she had a "back to school" party at the school, after school for 2 hours... she originally said she didn't want to go. Her dad encouraged her to go to make new friends. I dropped her off. 2 hours later picked her up, and could immediately tell she was high. She wouldn't look at me and started up stories about why the night didn't go well.. but story kept changing. I still didnt say anything. After about 10 minutes all I said was, "i can tell something is off". She immediately said she lied and was high. She was given a weed cookie at the dance and ate it. Eventually said what friend gave it to her. I took her phone and didnt say anything else. She immediately went upstairs and has been asleep since.

Ive been digging in her phone and found plenty of evidence she has been deleting things for awhile. She even forgot to delete a note literally saying "delete the messages my mom goes through my phone"... im at complete loss and have no idea how to react or what to do..

I really need advice on how to handle this situation.. on one hand im happy she said something.. on the other im insanely hurt, mad, etc... I dont know what to do.

Nervous for first MA job

As many others on here, I'm ending my program and going on externship, however I was able to find my own and get hired on while I complete my externship.

I do have pervious experience working as a CNA, so healthcare isn't totally new. However working in completely different position and office is. I was hired full time. From my understanding, they want me to train for a new Surgeon coming to their office. They said I would be working for him specifically every other week (not really sure what i would be doing the other weeks). Is this a normal schedule? They made the job sound like a lot during the interview, so its made me really nervous. I kind of feel like i have imposter syndrome.

Im also in my 30s. I havent been the new person in YEARS so im also nervous about that.

Any advice would be amazing.

Externship sites- advice?

As the title suggests, I'm going on an externship soon. Our program allows us to give them a short list of our top choices. Looking to see if there is anything that would be recommended? Or places to avoid? We are required to do 160 hours, with hope they hire us on.

We have choices from a few hospitals, family med, or specialty clinics.
