Kansas City, MO

Good day-
New to this sub and I was sent here by suggestion.
Here is a view from Kansas City, MO just last night.
The iconic Western Auto sign had been dark for nearly a year due to age, maintenance issues & money to keep it up.
It has been fully restored & re-bulbed and was lit once again at 9pm last night.
Several photographers chose to photograph the city view over Union Station that also shows this building.
I like this view looking north on Grand Ave as it features the sign more, in my humble opinion.
I hope you enjoy the view & I’m happy to be here.
Cheers from KC!

It’s back on and it looks fantastic!

When it was 6 minutes after 9:00, I started thinking Chevy Chase might have been involved with the wiring…
At 9:08, it came on.
Here are three views before the rains came.

Mid 70s Pet U.F.O.

From my space toy collection. I thought I’d see if anyone here has one or has seen one.
I got this in the early 90s.
It was kind of poking fun at the Pet Rock craze that had happened.
This is a very early release as it has the paper info sheet glued to the lid of the box & not yet permanently printed on the box or the lid.

I’ve searched eBay many times over the years & have yet to find one. It’s literally a hunk of stainless steel shaped like a flying saucer with a small, simulated red light on top.

Anyone?

Rockets & stuff

I collect a lot of space related items.
I’m documenting them all, as I can, so that I will always have them. 😺
Here are some recent views.

Little drums and drummers

I haven’t posted in forever and I’ve been going through the basement, selling some things, thinning out, so we can then pack up and downsize.
I found my packed away miniature drums and miniature drummers. All things drum- in miniature.
I am, in fact, a drummer and over the years, I’ve always grabbed a miniature drummer etc if it caught my eye.
I will keep that collection of well over 50 pieces.
I do have several on my shelf of many things and I pulled a few to share.
The shelf of many things holds a lot of interesting items.

I have several that are clocks. The one shown here has great weight to it. The time- coming up on 4:20.
The clown was a garage sale find. I mean.. come on. Gotta have a clown drummer.
The skeleton metal drummer is tiny but a must in any drummer collection.
I love cats. I have a few cat drummers and here is a dapper one.
And, Animal. I am a Muppet Show fan and grew up with Sesame Street. Animal was an obvious favorite. I have the Animal stage set with Animal & his complete drum set. It’s the backdrop for everything, when set up.
Side note: When I pay in cash I count it out, like The Count…

Yesterday and 2004

I seem to do better at finding new cars for my collection when I’m not on a quest for it.
Yesterday, I was not on a car quest but I almost always at least do a walk by the HW section.
I found 9 yesterday that I’ve not seen.
I do have the Monopoly version of Pass n Go but not this nicely colored one. All nice looking cars, in my book.

Then- And then! I was just going through a closet box and stumbled on to these two 2004 beauties!
The Madd Propz is a great looking racing plane.
And the Crooz Fast Fuse is classic, Space Age, fantasy styling. So fun!

9 new pieces for my carded collection and the two 2004s made it a great bunch of eye candy.

Hope you enjoy the views. I’ve loved HW, Corgi and Matchbox for many years.

Matchbox Originals

I collect so many different things that I’m surprising myself when I go through boxes.
I have not thought of these in quite a while.

Did anyone else jump on this train in 1992 and buy these?
I grew up with Matchbox in the mid 60s-early 70s & I have several of mine from then. I still buy today.
I bought these in 1992 because they’re like a little toy history lesson you can hold in your hand.

I knew in 1992 that they weren’t going to be worth much in the future but I liked them and got them.
They’re creeping up the ladder though.

I have some open somewhere, boxed away.
I just wanted to see how many of you got these or if you like them today.
Thx for the look.

Munsters Racing Champions

I posted this in the Diecast sub a few days ago but it hasn’t had a look. I post on HW and hoping someone may know something. See below & thx-
•Old collector here. All things “toy” and a lot of vehicle related.
Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Johnny Lightning, Space toys, nearly anything die cast…
I’ve had this for I don’t know how long.
Long.
It has been on my Shelf Of Many Things forever and I was taking a visual inventory the other evening and plucked this off the shelf for a better look.
I searched the car. I searched the Kayro-Vue Prod stamp. I searched ERTL, Racing Champions…
When I search the Kayro-Vue,, all sorts of Munsters stuff pops up- except this car.

I researched “Kayro-vue Munsters ERTL” and I did see where some 1:64 & 1:18 cars were made but they were a 30s & 40s look/model.
This is more modern and a race car.

Anyone familiar?
I did see where, if it had the Kayro-Vue Prod stamp, ERTL, Racing Champions and a © 2003 or 2004 then it was HTF.
This car has that and a ©2003.
I just want to know if anyone else has seen or has this car. I just find it unusual that at least one didn’t come up online somewhere.

I love the graphics and the car but now would love more info.
Thx for the look.

ERTL/Racing Champions Munsters Car

Good evening, campers!

Old collector here.
I searched the Kayro-Vue Prod. When I search the latter, all sorts of Munsters stuff pops up- except this car.

I researched “Mauro-vue Munsters ERTL” and I did see where some rare 1:64 & 1:18 cars were made but they were a 30s & 40s look/model.
This is more modern and a race car.

Anyone familiar?
The info I saw spoke of it being rare if it had the Kayro-Vue Prod stamp, ERTL, Racing Champions and a © 2003 or 2004.
This car has that and a ©2003.

I love the graphics and the car but now would love more info.
Thanks for the look-

‘97 McLaren F1 GT

Two that I’ve not seen on the pegs. I love both of these picks.

The McLaren immediately caught my attention from 15 feet away. Beautiful car and weighty, too.
Happy to get that one which I’ve not seen in the wild.
The 63 Mercedes is a classic. Clean lines & no extra trim because it doesn’t need it.

Went to get paper cups

Stopped at Dollar Tree for some cups, which I got, and then these nifty Hot Wheels.
I haven’t seen a Simpson’s family car in the wild in several months so this was a fun find.
The 64 Impala is gorgeous. The two Audis at 23 years apart are fun to compare and the Skyline in any form is always a winner.

A few new I haven’t seen

One is a Matchbox but I still collect those, as well. Just like in the 60s.
Collect what you love, and I love a lot.

This Lamborghini is a great looking car. I like them all but I keep coming back to that one.

Time to buy a couple more tubs.

Finds I wasn’t looking for

I was really happy to see some new (to my eyes) Moving Parts vehicles at Target and they’re still marked at $2.99. I don’t go nuts but I really liked these. But I also remember most of my childhood MB cars had opening doors, hoods, etc.
still, I’m glad to see it.

Then, I see this little “Push’n Puller” that I’ve never seen before. It’s unique enough that I got it.
My first thought was watching the animated show, CatDog, lol.

Wasn’t looking but glad I looked.

Nothing major, I don’t think, but I sure love the cars and the period.
The baby blue Lincoln is wonderful and I’m loving the trim paint work and silver door handles.
The Citroën is splendid to look at. The Alpha & the Mustang also pair well.
Found these in a small town Dollar General.

Matchbox unseen in a while

Some of my hidden away, not newer Matchbox vehicles, just because someone needs to see them.

Nice finds AND my first STH

Only seeing other’s photos of Supers on here are what I’m used to seeing but today, I knew there was something special about that sparkle of color on the Mustang GTD.
I found all of these literally as the Hy-Vee mgr was unboxing a stand up display.
The Formula 1 was also a nice find.
Is the 67 Camero also Spectraflame paint? It looks fabulous!
The food cars are fun and I keep an eye out for those, as well.
I was quite happy with the finds.

How do these get by QC?

First one of these I’ve found and it was at a Walgreen’s.
Not knowing what the Hot Wheels production line looks, I wonder how these fairly obvious mistakes get through?
I’m happy to find it & drop it in my collection.

Recent no plan grabs

I always look when I’m out. I never plan to buy. It just happens. I still have all my late 60s Matchbox & Hot Wheels and I still love them, as do so many of you here.
The 66 Charger & that 61 Ranchero are superb & are what called out my name but the whole 5 pack is classic.
The Morgan 3 wheeler would be so fun to actually drive and the Aloha Romeo is just begging for a road trip.
