Unpermitted Finished Basemen

I paid a contractor I trust to finish my basement two years ago. Extremely happy with the result but it was a bunch of work including removing 100 year old plumbing and new electrical.

I don’t have any problems or concerns, my question is: about 4/5 of the way through the project my brother, who lives out of state, asked how we got the permits so quickly. I’ve never had to do any home construction or additions or anything at all and so I actually didn’t know what he was talking about. It turns out the contractor did not get permits nor did we discuss it at any point. Now, two years later everything is still great, but I’m wondering what the consequences would be if I tried to get it permitted now. Is this a huge mistake, opening a can of worms I would rather leave closed or would it be worthwhile in case we eventually decide to sell the house?

Woke up to a flurry of Confirmation Codes

I woke up this morning to look at my phone and had this flurry of notifications. I’ve checked all of my bank accounts and I don’t have any extra charges. I haven’t used the credit cards anywhere new recently. I also opened my actual Instacart and Lyft accounts and they have not been used recently. I’ve also received two calls from From DOORDASH with confirmation codes, but my personal DOORDASH account doesn’t have any recent orders. I’m not sure what information scammers could have access to aside from maybe my phone number but I think I should change some passwords? Happy for any advice.

Family took this while traveling recently, trying to figure out exactly where it is. Traveling between Nebraska and Washington in late April.

Just noticed this board pulling away from the side of our home. This part of the home was a later addition (Home is 100 years old, the addition is…less than that) and so it is not contiguous with the attic at all. From the ground I just looks like a flat surface behind the board. I’ve recently had a knee surgery so I cannot climb a ladder. I’m having a handyman come out to inspect and presumably nail it down…should I be contacting someone with more capability?
