Interrail Trip Nice France, 1988.

Interrail Trip Nice France, 1988.

Hi,

This was my first time abroad August 1988. I remember exiting Nice railway station and can only imagine I was walking south'ish towards the beach area or maybe the old town / port. The building appears to be at an angle to road/wall I took the two photos from. Both photos are taken from the same spot. I've been searching on and off using street view for a few years.

Thanks for looking.

Located somewhere between SFO and OMA. Where is it? What is life like?

Friend sent me this picture and I have so many questions about what life here is like? is it like The Villages of Nevada? Just a bunch of boring pontoons or do we have some awesome Ozark-like drugs and money laundering?

mystery drink coaster?

At some point I acquired this drink coaster from my work (a used record store) found amongst a bunch of random old papers n stuff. I can’t figure out if it’s genuinely vintage or just a piece of merch for a band or something. I’ve tried googling Neu Town Inn but haven’t found anything that resembles the building pictured on the coaster. There is a current band from San Francisco called Neutrals, but I can’t seem to find anything that links them to this. I just wanna know if this is a real place!

Got this picture sent to me by my friend.

Does anyone recognise where it’s from? I’m guessing somewhere in Germany but I’m not sure. Is it a bus/tram station?

Office in upstate New York, doctor does not know where it’s from.

Edit: there is nothing written on the back. The signature is illegible but starts with D

Indoor art gallery(?) chicago.

I went there back in 2018 and I have no recollection of what the place even was or what it was called, I have some images I took on this cheap little burner phone my little highschool self had. It was indoors and huge, there was a merry go round and it was like a giant art piece that looked like it took forever to construct. At the end there was this weird fake dark town that looked like it was supposed to be some Midwestern or Amish mock town. You could go into some of the stores and buy stuff too

Stolen vehicle reappeared online: trying to identify the location in the listing

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone here might be able to help identify the location shown in the uploaded images.

The situation is unfortunately serious:

The vehicle shown in the photos was allegedly stolen from the original buyer shortly after purchase, and it is now being offered again in order to carry out the same theft/scam scheme once more.

The last known locations connected to the vehicle were in northern Germany, specifically within the regions of Lower Saxony, Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein.

If anyone recognizes the area shown in the images or has ideas on how to narrow down the location, any help would be greatly appreciated. Skilled GeoGuessr players or geolocation enthusiasts are also very welcome to take a closer look at the surroundings and details in the photos.

Thanks a lot.

I assume this was taken in either Manhattan or Brooklyn, NYC?

This was from SATC season 2 episode “Shortcomings” which aired in 1999. I tried going by ‘Avalon’ written on the awning, but the results I searched did not match the street in the said photos. Thank you!

Donkey Ride in Spain 1986

This was already posted in r/wherewasthistaken: https://www.reddit.com/r/wherewasthistaken/comments/1sp0ctw/a_donkeys_back_instead_of_a_motorcycle_seat_in

These are one of the last photos of this trip without exact location. It must be between Salamanca and Simancas, probably between Tordesillas and Simancas. In 1986 there was no motorway, but on an old map I can see that the road of 1986 must have followed the same route as the motorway nowadays. I would guess it was late afternoon.

In the meantime I did a little more research myself. This Streetview seems to match pretty well in terms of the terrain and the timeline: https://maps.app.goo.gl/giNGhXgLeYRTm2zS8 But for the houses and walls, I can't find any match. What do you think? Any help would be appreciated.

Purported to be in Sparks, Nevada, but this is not anywhere in Northern Nevada.

This was used on a political mailer for a candidate in Sparks, Nevada and we're all trying to figure out where this photo is. It is not in Sparks, and it isn't in Reno. In fact, we're very confident it's nowhere in Northern Nevada.

The halftone printing is throwing us off, but we recognize it might be AI but, there are little things that make us think it's not AI.

Edit: It seems the consensus is that this is an AI photo and some commenters have pointed out specific elements that lead them and myself to believe this is AI. Thank you all for playing.

WW2 Paris, late August 1944 - September 196th FA Battalion

I am conducting historical research into my grandfather’s service with the 196th Field Artillery Battalion during the Liberation of Paris. I am trying to identify the street or general area depicted in this historical photograph for my family's military archives.. The only writing on the back of the photo is "somewhere in Europe"

Historical Context:

Unit: Battery B, 196th Field Artillery Battalion (Attached to French 2nd Armored Division).

Timeline: Late August/Early September 1944 (Immediately following the liberation of Paris).

Context: We're pretty sure my grandfather was billeted in the 16th/17th Arrondissement during this staging period.

Architectural Markers (for research purposes):

Wooden balcony, ivy-covered facade, corner/entry structure, 3–4 story height.

The architecture has a distinct "Anglo-Norman" feel, common in the requisitioned villas of that area in 1944.

Goal: I am looking for the specific street or neighborhood to confirm the unit's billeting locations. I am not looking to contact any current residents or identify private owners; this is strictly to document the unit's path through the city during the liberation. Ideally I'd love to one day make one of those "superimposed" photos with the building behind the photo and lined up to the same spot. but doubt it'll happen and it's not necessary for this project.
