So when I started my plex server, I had an old macbook pro mid 2012 lying around that I wasnt using, but it has 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD drive. So I looked up how to create a plex server, knowing only my wife and I would use it, so we didn't need anything more than 1 or 2 simultaneous streams. I formatted the entire mac and put Ubuntu Server on it to use the least amount of resources, and have all of my movies and shows on an external drive. Recently I was able to put a lot of my shows onto the docker app - ErsatzTV so I can have old commercials playing and basically a 24/7 tv channel with just shows I like, but I think the macbook pro is causing a bottleneck and making it run terribly. It buffers every couple of seconds.

I have another old gaming computer (newer than the macbook), its an Acer E5 aspire laptop with 8GB of RAM but a faster CPU and dedicated GPU (if that makes a difference)

My problem is I have a lot of things customized on this distro that I don't want to have to spend hours recreating. I have a custom welcome message to the SSH, I have all of the apps I want on it (docker, yt-dlp, etc), I have directories exactly as I need them, I have functions within the linux distro to prevent the device from going to sleep when closed, to always reconnect in the event of a power disruption, to use less resources and heat, etc.

I would love to find a way to make an exact like for like copy of whatever is on that ubuntu server distro and load it into the acer e5 but I can't seem to find a painless way to do it. Obviously the media and shows are fine on an external, but all my plex configuration and everything else would be lost if I just start a fresh install.

Any ideas on what I should do? Can I just move the SSD from the macbook pro into the acer e5 and boot from that with 0 changes?

UPDATE: I was able to successfully move everything by swapping the drives to the new computer, all I had to was get the updated IP address and everything was good to go! Thanks for the help everyone!

So obviously, Norway has a ride. France has a ride and Mexico has a ride. If you had to choose one type of ride for all the other countries, what would you choose bonus points for theming or story. Doesn’t have to include any Disney IP either.

One suggestion I had would be for China to have some type of Chinese dragon roller coaster I think it would fit it well.

Every time a new update comes out, my old save is no longer able to be used. Why is it that every other game can have major updates and it simply adds features to your current save, but this game, the updates break your save? I worked for months on my last save, exploring a huge portion of the map, fully upgraded to the gyrocopter and had my daily looting and hunting routine. I literally could have played this game for years to come on that save file and been happy. But instead, an update comes out, and I lose access to the file it no longer loads and says incompatible.

What point is there, to start a new file and invest months into it if a new update will just ruin it again?

I’ll just wait till the developers move on to a new game and I know they leave this one untouched.
