the vrSrc API is now live

the vrSrc API is now live

The server is not down, but the api is live. Only two apps and the specific versions of those apps are approved (that i know of as of this writing).

  1. Rookie Sideloader v3.4 - 3.3 or lower will NOT connect.
  2. VR CyberDeck v1.2.1 - Anything lower will not connect

This means no other apps (unless properly approved) will be able to connect. Do not make posts about the server or other apps unless you are using one of the above it will NOT work.

This being said this is NOT the only source. There are plenty of sources in the megathread which do not depend or rely on the vrSrc Server. This largely only effects sideloaders (and some shitty downloaders) that use the vrSrc as the server

Made a Small Tool to Automate the Navigator UI ADB Fix

So i saw this post here https://www.reddit.com/r/QuestPiracy/comments/1t9mnpu/how_to_revert_back_to_the_universal_menu_from/ about the ADB command that reverts the shitty Navigator UI and figured i'd make a simple tool for people that arent comfortable using command line stuff. Thanks to Asleep_Conclusion147 and Yeahnahthatscool for posting about it.

This is basically just a portable BAT utility with bundled ADB that:

  • checks if your Quest is connected properly
  • checks for authorization/dev mode issues
  • automatically runs:

adb shell pm clear com.oculus.vrshell

  • gives proper error messages if something is wrong
  • has a fancy little cyberpunk style UI because why not 😄 (seems to be my thing lately)

Current issue:
Right now the fix is NOT permanent. The problem (aka the shitty UI) comes back after restarting the headset, so for now the tool needs to be run again after every reboot. Major sad face.

Im mainly posting this because:

  1. it makes the current workaround easier for normal users
  2. maybe some of you Android/Quest dev wizards have ideas for a more permanent solution

If anyone has ideas for:

  • a permanent fix
  • a way to automate this better
  • wireless ADB startup tricks
  • identifying a way to freeze this so the commands not needed...

definitely let me know.

AND AS ALWAYS: Made with ❤️ by DMP of ARMGDDN Games

Download link

NOTE: Depending on your browser you may need to right-click and choose Save As and then you may need to tell your browser its ok to keep. Thanks to u/WhatNoRobot for pointing out they needed to do this.

Instructions:

  1. Extract this where ever.
  2. Run the bat.
  3. Follow the prompts.

Thats basically it.

If you hate this art style your gonna LOVE VR CyberDeck.... NOT

Hey y'all,

I've been quietly cooking on this for a while and after a stack of 0.x prereleases with friends I'm finally cutting the public v1.0.0. Meet VR CyberDeck — a cross-platform desktop deck for managing, sideloading, and uploading content to your Quest, wrapped in a neon-terminal aesthetic that doesn't look like it was designed in 2014.

Quick disclosure first: this is a fork of ApprenticeVR by jimzrt. The core engine (ADB control, the download/upload/rclone pipeline) is theirs and y'all should give them a star — without that foundation this project literally doesn't exist. I've heavily rewritten the experience on top.

https://reddit.com/link/1sxm9cj/video/83f0kij9vtxg1/player

// TL;DR

It's a sideloader. It's themed. It works on first launch. It has buttons that go boop.

// WHAT'S DIFFERENT FROM APPRENTICEVR / OTHER FORKS

ApprenticeVR / typical fork VR CyberDeck
Onboarding Configure server before use Bundled defaults — works first launch
Library view Table only Card and table view, table stretches edge-to-edge
Downloads Sequential Up to 5 parallel, NEW / UPDATED badges
Uploads Headset-only Headset or local PC files (folders + ZIPs)
Live HUD None Header strip rotates through active transfers w/ name, %, speed, ETA
ADB Shell None Full terminal with quick-command shortcut pills + user-defined macros
Trailers Loads full youtube.com page Locked-down nocookie embed — no ads, no suggestions, no subscribe button ... But also currently broken =(
Quit safety None Won't let you close mid-transfer without warning
Theming Stock Fluent UI Cyberpunk top to bottom, accent color picker, font picker, full colorblind mode
Sound None Optional drop-in click.wav / type.wav / matrix.wav for that hacker-keyboard feel
Updates Manual In-app auto-updater on every platform

// FEATURE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Live transfer ticker in the header — // TRANSFER_BUS ↓ Beat Saber DOWNLOADING 78% 12.3 MB/s ETA 1m. Rotates through active items, shows speed + ETA + stage labels (Installing APK...Copying OBB...).
  • ADB Shell with shortcut pills for the stuff you actually do: pin CPU/GPU level, swap refresh rate (72/90/120Hz), block/unblock the OS updater, reboot variants, tcpip 5555, etc. Plus custom macro pills you can save for any command you spam (right-click to edit/delete).
  • Smart on-disk detection — already have the same release downloaded from another tool? CyberDeck notices, asks if you want to install from the existing files or wipe + redownload. Toggle in Settings if you want it to pick automatically.
  • Local PC upload — point at a folder or pre-made ZIP, no headset required. Full pipeline: stage → APK → OBBs → metadata → 7z → rclone.
  • A11y that's actually finished — colorblind mode swaps the whole UI palette (not just the obvious bits), font scale up to 200%, font picker if Courier New is rough on your eyes, 900x640 minimum window for laptops.

// DOWNLOAD

// FEEDBACK / BUGS

If you find a sound clip that would suit the click/type/matrix slots, drop it in a discussion thread — happy to bundle community favourites in a later build.

// FAQ I CAN ALREADY SEE COMING

"Why fork ApprenticeVR instead of contributing upstream?" Honest answer ... iit started as a quick "lets get this new server working thing" and snowballed. The amount of UI/UX surgery wouldn't have made sense as a PR. jimzrt's project stays the source of truth for the engine; CyberDeck is the playground.

"Will my old downloads still work?" Yes. Point Settings → Download Path at your existing folder and hit Scan — anything already on disk gets imported as Completed and you can install straight from there.

"What's with the sound effects?" They're just for fun and you can drop your own files. Or remove mine, and even mess with the volume and turn them off in options, BUT if you have an old mechanical keyboard click sample lying around, you know what to do.

"Source?" github.com/KaladinDMP/VR-CyberDeck — AGPL v3, same license as upstream.

> OPERATE. DEPLOY. CONTROL.

⭐ if you like it, issue if you don't, see y'all in the comments.

🔍 Some actually cool features on the vrSrc site you probably aren’t using

I’ve been digging through the the_vrSrc site lately and figured I’d make a post highlighting some of the more interesting features.

If you haven’t made an account yet, it’s worth doing. Even though parts of the site are still being built out, there’s already a surprising amount of functionality and some genuinely smart ideas that help the community.

💰 Donations (Crypto + Credit System)

👉 vrsrc donate page

They accept a wide range of crypto donations, and you get credit as a donor. That’s about as far as it goes right now, but don’t let that stop you.

Servers aren’t cheap. If people aren’t helping cover costs, stuff like this doesn’t last. I haven’t donated crypto yet personally, but I plan to.

🔑 Token Method (This is the big one)

If you’ve got a large library, or you’ve ever:

  • hated donating one file at a time
  • avoided donating because your upload speed sucks
  • just couldn’t be bothered

This is where things get interesting.

👉 Go to your account page: vrsrc account page

Scroll to Account Token. There’s a tutorial there on how to grab it.

Quick note:

  • If the hotkeys don’t work (F12 / Ctrl+Shift+I), just right click → Inspect Element
  • Or use Ctrl+Shift+C depending on your browser

Once you paste your token, it validates the format.

What it actually does:

Instead of uploading files manually, they can access and pull games you already own.

Think of it like how Steam manifests work. It’s a huge time saver.

⚠️ Important warning:

This token effectively allows login access.

  • Treat it like a password
  • Don’t share it randomly
  • Only give it to services you trust

This method isn’t new. Groups like VRP and others have used similar systems for years.

Personally, I trust vrSrc with it, but that’s your call.

🧾 UUID Credit System

Another solid feature is donation tracking via UUID.

  • You can submit your UUID on your account page
  • It links your uploads to you (without exposing personal info)
  • Past and future uploads get credited automatically

Uploads include a HWID.txt that ties into this system.

If you donate from multiple PCs, you can add multiple UUIDs.

Not 100% sure yet how this lines up between Rookie and ApprenticeVR, but it’s something worth syncing if possible. I plan on looking into this. Assume that it works with RSL at the moment but probably not ApprenticeVR

🏆 Future Donor Perks (Not fully live yet)

Looks like they’re planning something for consistent contributors.

Possibly:

  • VIP access
  • Priority perks

Nothing confirmed or active yet, but honestly… even without rewards, contributing helps keep everything alive.

Anything extra would just be a bonus.

🧠 Final Thoughts

The site is doing something a little different, and it shows.

What’s interesting is they’re:

  • using methods that already worked in the past
  • but actually building systems around them for community use

That’s something older groups didn’t fully capitalize on.

There are already tools to:

  • see what needs donating
  • track updates
  • streamline contributions

And that alone makes this worth paying attention to. There is info here so you can see whats going on easily but also ways to contribute games or financially. It's a great site and it makes me hopeful for the future. Check it out

👀 TLDR

  • Make an account
  • Check your account page
  • Set up token + UUID if you’re comfortable
  • Look around, there’s more here than you think

If you actually take the time to explore the site, I guarantee you’ll find at least one feature you didn’t know existed or didn’t realize you needed.

EDIT: Before anyone asks this stupid and pointless question: Yes i used AI to organize my thoughts.
