[Release] PSPalatro v0.8 - Balatro PSP Port Fork, now with Spectral Cards, Seals, Editions and more polish!

Hi everyone!

A while ago I shared my PSPalatro fork here after adding working saves to the PSP port of Balatro. Since then, I kept working on it and I’m happy to share a new release: PSPalatro v0.8.

This version adds a lot more Balatro features and polish compared to the previous release.

What’s new in v0.8:

  • Spectral cards are now implemented
  • Spectral booster packs are now available
  • Card seals are implemented:
    • Gold Seal
    • Red Seal
    • Blue Seal
    • Purple Seal
  • Card editions have been improved:
    • Foil
    • Holographic
    • Polychrome
    • Negative Jokers
  • Edition scoring behavior is closer to the original game
  • Added improved edition visuals
  • Added score flame effect when your current hand beats the blind
  • Added flame sound effect
  • Added pause/settings menu
  • Added optional debug tools setting
  • Improved native PSP save UI support
  • Improved save-safe audio handling
  • Updated README with the correct PSP folder layout

The correct folder structure on your PSP should be:

ms0:/PSP/GAME/PSPalatro/

├── EBOOT.PBP

├── Balatro.exe

├── settings.ini

└── editions.png

IMPORTANT: You still need to provide your own legally obtained Windows Balatro.exe. This project does not include copyrighted Balatro assets or game files.

This is still a work in progress, so bugs and missing behavior are expected. If you test it on real PSP hardware, feedback is very welcome.

[Release] PSPalatro v0.7 - Native Sony Save UI, Spectral Cards and New Sound Effects!

Hi everyone!

A while ago (litreally one day) I shared my fork of **PSPalatro**, the PSP port of Balatro, after the original project went offline. Since then, I have been working on improving the port and keeping the project alive with new fixes and features.

I’m happy to announce that **PSPalatro v0.7** is now released!

## What’s new in v0.7?

The biggest change is that the game now has a working **native Sony PSP Save Utility UI**.

Previously, the save system used a custom background save method because the native PSP save screen was causing crashes. With this update, saving and loading now works through the proper PSP save interface.

This version also adds:

- Native Sony PSP Save/Load UI

- Spectral cards

- New sound effects

- More audio improvements are still planned

- General fixes and improvements

Not every sound effect is implemented yet, but new ones have been added and the audio side of the port is improving step by step.

Hi everyone!

As some of you might know, the amazing PSP port of Balatro (PSPalatro) created by Sérgio was recently taken down. Luckily, I managed to fork the source code before it went fully offline so we can keep the project alive!

One of the biggest missing features in the original release was that it didn't have a save system. You lost your progress as soon as you closed the game. On top of that, trying to implement the native Sony Save Utility UI was causing kernel crashes (at least when i tried it if you know any solutions im open for that).

I've been working on the code and I'm happy to announce that I've implemented a fully functional, crash-free Save/Load system!
I built a custom Pause Menu and a stealthy background saving method, meaning your deck, stats, and game state are saved instantly in the background without triggering any PSP UI crashes.

To respect the original takedown and copyright laws, this repository contains NO copyrighted assets, game files, or compiled EBOOTs. It's strictly the C source code.
