When taking a sworn statement from an alleged victim, suspect, or witness, does the person write it themselves or do police officers take interview notes, type it up, have the person read it and make changes (and/or annotations) then have them sign it?

I am re-reading the Adversary Cycle and am on "Reprisal". It seems I missed a book though. Can anyone tell me what book covers Father Ryan and the missing child Danny?
