Gonna quit my job

I have been working as a PM for a very large GC for almost a year in SoCal. I took this job last year after being laid off from an employer I was with for 11 years. I am not a job hopper at all and have not had to look for a job in decades. I have been pretty unhappy as I had to relocate for this job and it has been hard o n my family.
I am expecting an offer very soon from an employer that is close to my home and I will be able to move back to Nor Cal. To be clear my main issue with the current employer is that I have expressed my desire to go back to Nor Cal on several occasions and have received very little feedback that my requests has been taken into consideration. To add to it a PE recently threatened to quit if he was not given a job in LA. Guess what he is getting the new position in LA.

My question:
- Any pitfalls or advice in quitting a large impersonal employer. I have an only worked for small Mom and Pop GC’s. IF I don’t give them a full 2 weeks notice will there be some sort of backlash I may not be aware of?

Senior PM independent contractor rate?

I am a senior PM that is currently employed. I am considering transitioning into being an independent contractor rather than a salaried employee. I know I will need to find my own health insurance, set aside for taxes, etc. Can anyone advise regarding a rate in the SF Bay Area? I am thinking 175.00 is a good hourly rate to start negotiations.
I do have a potential employer that is interested in my services.
thanks!

Pay off home loan tips?

Hi, I am close to being able to pay off my home loan. My loan is with PNC mortgage. I had to call them when I made an extra payment so that would apply the extra payment to principal rather than the next months payment. I thought all extra payments had to go to principal by law? Any other issues that I need to pay attention to while I head down this path to pay off?
Thanks!

3 days without pills on vacation 🤦‍♀️

Hello, I am on vacation and currently taking progesterone and pill form and estrogen and patch form… I forgot to pack enough pills so I will be without my progesterone pills for two days until I get back home. Should I takeoff my patch as well for the same three days? Or am I OK to keep the patch on? Also, what should I expect not taking my progesterone for 2 to 3 days?
Thanks in advance for your help!

62……retire? Or?

I am 62 years old and was laid off last June from a small General contractor in Oakland. I was employed as a PM but the type of work my company did in affordable housing really took a funding hit when the Trump administration took over. I was lucky enough to land a job with 2 months with a VERY large GC. EVERYTHING is so different at the my new employer, from emails, to having a formal HR department, the list goes on. I knew it would be different with the new large GC and there would be an adjustment period but it’s been over 7 months and I’m just not feeling good about my new job. I feel like I am just not clicking with folks. I wonder if it’s time to retire, or if I just need to find a smaller company to work for. I am in good health and financially in good shape and could retire. But I feel it’s a little early to retire, working keeps me sharp and engaged. but am unsure what my next steps should be or what questions to ask myself to figure this out.
