How did you rebuild after a layoff? CE grad, 8.5 years at Amazon, now pivoting to BA at 29 — looking for advice from women who've been there.

Hello

Hoping to get some perspective from women here who’ve navigated something similar.

I’m a Computer Engineering graduate who joined Amazon straight out of college and spent 8.5 years growing from Customer Service Associate to Subject Matter Expert and Quality Analyst. Looking back, I was practically doing Business Analyst work the entire time. Process documentation, SOP authorship, quality audits, stakeholder management, ops analytics, just never had the BA title to show for it.
Was laid off in January 2026.

Since then I’ve been upskilling seriously. Power BI, SQL, ECBA certification in progress and targeting Business Analyst roles in Pune/Mumbai. On paper the transition makes sense. Practically, it’s been a lot to navigate. Job search, new household responsibilities as a recently married woman, and rebuilding confidence after a long tenure at one place.

My questions for this community:

How did you mentally handle the gap between jobs especially when you were doing everything right but results were slow?

Did you ever feel judged for a non-linear career path? How did you respond?

Any advice specifically for women pivoting into analyst/corporate roles in India?

Open to mentorship, referrals, or just a conversation.

BE in Computers >8.5yrs@Amazon >Laid off >Pivoting to Business Analyst >Looking for mentors, referrals & feedback.

Hi everyone,

Since then i've been upskilling seriously- Power BI, SQL and actively pursuing ECBA certification, Targeting BA roles in Pune/Mumbai.

What I'm looking for:

-Mentors who've made an ops-to-BA or any similar career pivot.

-Referrals

-Resume feedback

-Whats actually working in this job market rn.

Appreciate any help.

CE Grad>8.5 yrs @Amazon> laid off> pivoting to BA at 29. Looking for mentors and support.

Hi everyone,

First time posting here and a little nervous, but this feels like the right space.

I’m a Computer Engineering graduate who joined Amazon straight out of college and spent 8.5 years in ops and quality growing from Customer Service Associate to Subject Matter Expert and Quality Analyst. I built SOPs, ran audits, managed stakeholders essentially doing Business Analyst work without ever having the title.

In January 2026 I was laid off. It hit harder than I expected. As a woman who had built her entire professional identity around one company for 8.5 years, starting over has been equal parts scary and clarifying.

Since then I’ve been upskilling Power BI, SQL, ECBA certification in progress and targeting BA roles at GCCs and BFSI firms in Pune/Mumbai. I’ve been consistent, I’ve been putting in the work. But some days it’s just hard.

What I’m looking for:

Mentors- especially women who’ve navigated a career pivot or a layoff
Anyone who’s been through something similar and come out the other side
Referrals if you’re at a GCC or BFSI firm hiring BAs
Resume feedback from anyone willing.

I’m not looking for sympathy, just solidarity and honest guidance. DMs open. 🙏
