Two Week Itinerary Advice
Hi Everyone, I'm planning a visit and would love some advice. We're flying out of Toronto on Sept 30th, arriving in Edinburgh on Oct 1st for a wedding in Peebles on Oct 2nd. The only other hard date is a half marathon in Kinloch Rannoch on Oct 11. I have a partial desire to visit our Clan's castle/hotel near Dingwall, but it is out of the way compared to the rest of the points of interest, so I could drop it if this seems too much. Planning to rent a car for the stay and drive. Right now I'm thinking...
- Oct 1st - Arrive 730am, check out a bit of Edinburgh until we can time the drive and check in to Peebles. Stay in Peebles.
- Oct 2nd - Wedding, stay in Peebles.
- Oct 3rd - Leave Peebles to Glen Coe. Cant decide if we day trip Glasgow, blow right through to Loch Lomond, the Glen Coe or stay in Glasgow. I hear it's a fun active city, but we're a family mix of 40-80 year olds so who know how much active night life they'll be hoping for. Stay in cottage near Glen Coe, if we don't stay in Glasgow?
- Oct 4th - Glen Coe area hiking, islands, etc? Still in Glen Coe cottage.
- Oct 5,6th - Fort William for the train, then back to the road to Isle of Skye for 2-3 nights?
- Oct 7,8th - Tulloch Castle, Inverness?
- Extra time, check in at Kinloch Rannoch is Oct 10, so maybe we do spend time in Glasgow, another day in Skye, or add Oban/Isle of Mull as a overnighter?
- Oct 10-12 Loch Rannoch and area, maybe St Andrew's.
- Oct 12- 14 Edinburgh and back to Toronto.
It doesn't seem like an overwhelming itinerary to me, I'm a little worried about driving on the left side of the roads, but the small, windy Highland roads don't really phase me (looking forward to them actually, I'm comfortable pulling over and reversing wherever there are gaps to let people pass, etc.
Thanks for any responses, really excited to visit Scotland!
