Would you read a book if you knew from the start that it wouldn't have a happy ending?

So far, every book I've written has had a happy ending. Now I've come up with an idea for a book where it's clear from the premise that a happy ending is unlikely. The working title is "Bound to Lose," so even the title hints at how it will end.

However, I’m worried that readers won’t pick up a book when they know in advance that it might break their hearts and won’t give them the satisfaction of a happy ending.

Problem with the new update

I finally got the new update but when I click on the notification it leads me nowhere...

I read before about some new updates regarding the book genre but I still don't have it. I tried clicking on everything but I don't see it. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I have a story I wrote years ago, and it's the only one I've ever written in first-person POV. All my other stories are in the third person, using either third-person limited (where the reader only knows as much as the protagonist) or third-person omniscient (where we know about all the characters in a given scene). My problem is that I want to write a sequel to that first-person story, and I’m hesitating on how to approach it. I find it much easier to write in the third person, but I feel like if someone were to read these books back-to-back, it would be weird if the perspective suddenly shifted, right? The second book is about a side character from the first one, not a continuation of the same couple's story.
