Need Advice: Best Monitor for a PC Shop & Gaming

Hi everyone,

I run a local computer shop where I regularly handle PC builds, customer OS installations, and laptop counter testing. Alongside my shop work, I also run a Gaming Channel and spend hours reading tech forums.

I am planning to buy a new monitor that can handle this dual profile: Rough commercial testing + Personal high-fps gaming & editing. I have shortlisted a few models through my local channels but I’m highly confused about which direction to go.

My Current System Configuration:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7 10700F
  • GPU: GTX 1070 8GB
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4

Shortlisted Options Under Consideration:

  1. LG 24U631A-B
  2. LG UltraGear 24GS65F-B
  3. MSI MAG 255F E20
  4. Acer Nitro XV272U X1

My Dilemma:

  1. Since my GTX 1070 is an older card, will driving a 2K display (like the LG 24" or Acer 27") cause major FPS drops in modern games during recordings, or should I stick to a safer 1080p high-refresh-rate monitor for performance?
  2. For a shop testing bench, is Type-C connectivity on a 2K display a bigger practical day-to-day upgrade than having a 180Hz/200Hz gaming panel?
  3. I purposefully avoided Gigabyte budget series due to widespread panel line issues reported online. Are there any known QC defects or systematic issues with these specific MSI or LG models?

Would love to hear your thoughts, long-term reliability experiences, or any alternative suggestions that fit this criteria.

Thanks in advance!
